today is the last day to register to vote in the election

I have no interest in making this post political nor any interest how people vote

All I want to repeat is what my Dad used to say 'people have died so we can vote"

So please use your vote

thanks

Along with the above plea to vote bear in mind that, as well as the very serious fact that thousands have died to protect our right to vote and to democracy, the other issue is that if you don't vote you have no right to complain, praise or protest about the goverment you get!

No vote is ever wasted, even if the party or person you vote for doesn't win. The ONLY wasted vote is NO vote.

Take care and please DO VOTE!

I don't know enough about it all to vote, I'd be doing more harm than good.

in reply toB_S_A

As Sporan has said no vote is wasted vote with your conscience

Hi BSA,

It's a bit scarey if you're not sure about what you are voting for but in the end if you vote for who ever is saying closest to what you believe or want for yourself then you have contributed towards that goal. Not voting is giving up your right to democracy and the fewer people that vote the less democracy means and the harder it will be to change the world to a better place for all of us.

Since I was 18 I've voted at every general election and all but a few local elections (the few I missed were because of sudden work or health changes).

Take care and hope you are keeping well

I always vote in the main election.Unfortunately it has often been a decision made towards the lesser of several evils rather than 100% total support - I don't think any one party's policies can encompass all of my ideals. However,I am aware that we have to have some governing body and honour the green, white and violet movement and use my vote in the most appropriate way I feel. : )

I will be voting, but not because I think it'll contribute to anything positive ; more of an effort to oust a massive negative.

I won't be holding my breath though. :x

Hi Cat,

I do know exactly how you feel as there seems to be no clear line a few if any 'concience' politictions left, but I will vote with my own feelings for what I think will be the lesser of the evils facing us.

At least if I vote I can grumble and whinge about what we get.... that is if I'm not hiding in a dark corner if what I vote for makes thing worse;-)

I will vote because I don't like the status quo. This is my first serious vote in my entire life and it arguably affects someone of my age more.

I agree if you dont vote you dont have a right to complain.

Unfortunately it leaves you the problem of who to vote for.

My father gave me the best advice.

All politicians at election time tell you what they think you want to hear. So instead of listening to what they are saying , listen to what they are not telling you.

Seems a bit confusing ( well it confused the hell out of me). Until you question how are they going to achieve what they are telling you. If you dont like it dont vote for them.

Yes it you will end up compromising but hey we should be good at that. Although I prefer ADAPTING TO THE SITUATION rather than the word compromise. Good luck all with the voting and may the ( hopefully) best party win. Whoever that is.

Considering the democratic model Britain uses there's little point in voting for those at No 10 when your vote actually puts a highly paid local MP into Parliament. Proportional Representation is a better way to go but they are scared witless of what that would reveal at the end of the count.

Democracy when the gun is loaded only 2.5 ways? I don't think so.

My ballot paper will be spoiled with, "None of the above morons."

problem with Proportional Representation is it further erodes the link with local MP and makes it much more about the parties and Westminster. which is why I've always been less keen as on the whole I'm more intrested in local than central since the parties are very close in reality.

either way it's predicted to be another collation of some sorts though who knows some party may sweep into power with a huge margin seems unlikely though!
