Recently started weekly swim exercise in addition to balance physio and indoor cycling. Helps with others' balance troubles after injury?
VESTIBULAR SWIMMING: Recently started weekly swim... - Headway
VESTIBULAR SWIMMING

I did aqua aerobics class for disabled and elderly people. At first my support worker was in the pool with me because my balance was awful. It did help me immensely but took a lot out of me. I was driven to and from all exercise classes for over3 years because I struggled to stay awake after the classes. It also meant I was wiped out for a few days afterwards too but it was worthwhile for me. It helped socially too because I had become a hermit due to my uncontrollable outbursts. I was scare about how others would react but in time I realised that they just got used to me and laughed a lot at things I just said that they were thinking but to polite to say!
Hi, Yes, my husband is really benefitting from his twice weekly sessions in the local pool, after his SAH and stroke. His balance is pretty poor, and he is finding being in the pool is such a help. Also his weak left arm is really helped by using a float to give resistance.
HI What is the balance physio? could help my OH who has been struggling since his accident
I hear so many reports from folk about the benefits from swimming after head injury. I'm afraid I've never lost my fear of water since an incident during school-days though heaven knows I've tried hard enough over the years.
But the cycling helps with balance and confidence although I'm only happy in off-the-beaten-track situations.
Good luck to you Gisela and it's good to hear you're taking such positive action to improve your quality of life. Best wishes x
