For people struggling to get vestibular therapy

Here's a youtube channel with vestibular and other sensory balancing techniques.

There is a disclaimer that suggests asking your GP etc before trying them.

These are from Ontario in Canada where they seem to be streets ahead in treating TBI issues in their private and healthcare system.

He sure is. I've found him a little late for myself but I'm sure others could benefit from it. Got me thinking a little too about Headway having some videos for exercises etc so people can just access them and get to work. The NHS is so overloaded and many health authorities have very limited services for any kind of brain injury rehab. It seems like a good idea to me, a kind of pick and mix of rehab videos to suit the diverse needs of people.

I obviously agree on the NHS overloading. Although I fear Headway staff mightn't have the time to vet videos, and I doubt they'll be comfortable in allowing anything they haven't personally approved...? Maybe have a word though Pink ; I might be wrong about that.

Thanks again for this one though - I've been ill for a week but this gave me some hope today ! 🤔

Hi Cat, hope you get better soon.

What I mean't was for Headway and the NHS to produce videos that are 'certified'. The NHS where I am have no services and deffer patients to contact Headway for information on how to manage BI's. Other health authorities have limited services and others seem to have a wide range of service. It's kind of pot luck depending on where someone lives. There's no centralised vision on how to deal with BI's. We've got used to having remote contact with service providers during covid so it seems a good idea to centralise methods and techniques to help people with BI's.

The NHS could fund it and Headway could lead it as they are much better informed than the NHS. Makes sense to me having video advice and techniques for conditions under one virtual roof so to speak. It would remove GP appointments, referrals, waiting time for services and the services themselves could be accessed by everyone and not just those in areas that provide them.

Hi, I managed to get mine sorted through yoga neck movements. I noticed I got worse before getting better, just to let you know. The change took 10 days, then just kept improving from there.

Thanks so much for sharing this, really helpful. I live in notts, havent found any local vestibular support and 7 month waiting list for vestibular clinic. Have recently seen a vestibular physio in Sheffield, she was great...so reassured to finally get a proper assessment and a treatment plan. Feeling more hopeful with a situation that has been incredibly confusing and debiliating

It's not the case definitely. The brain and sensory system and CNS is plastic and can be revamped at any time post injury. It just takes hard work and dedication. This is the basis of the functional brain injury rehabilitation paradigm.

Thanks for this one too. Just been catching up on the videos you've posted. We thought this one was excellent, it's not often Ian shows even the slightest enthusiasm for anything, but he really seems up for this. The video was so clear. He hasn't been diagnosed as needing vestibular Therapy, but I'm sure there's no harm doing the exercises. I always appreciate your posts, always so useful and hopeful. X
