Hi Mikeila - the general view is that you need only be wary of products containing wheat that are likely to be ingested e.g. toothpaste, lip balms, lipstick etc. However many Coeliacs, who also have skin conditions e.g. DH and psoriasis, do find that using shampoo, conditioners, bath products etc that are enriched with wheat extract get a reaction on their skin. Many find switching shampoo to one without wheat improves the scalp.

Does this hair colour mention carrying out a skin test 24 hrs in advance? Most hair colours, especially permanent colours recommend this now. The colourant skin test should give you an clear indication of whether this product is right for you.

Here's a link to an earlier discussion on the topic of wheat in branded toiletries that you might find useful.

Hi Irene - thank you so much for your answer. I don't have any problems with DH or psoriasis. I will do the test just to check if is right for me.I ve tried many products to dye my hair but I have lot of grey hair and I don't know what to use anymore.

Hi Mikeila,

Just read your post. I have about 50% grey now and use totally natural/organic hair dyes such as BAQ henna and Indigo which have really improved the condition and growth. Although they take longer to prepare and apply, the benefits are many and they really smooth out grey hairs as well as providing good coverage.
