I have had terrible flatulence over the last few months and have tracked it down to Boots vitamin supplements- has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Persephina, which vitamins are you taking, and what are the excipients, the other ingredients in the supplement aside from the active vitamin(s)?

Anything- cellulose? contained in the supplement? Shows you’ve got gut bugs having a good feed! I’ve had experience of this 😊 .

Cheap filler basically fibre /wood pulp that’s indigestible. Used in ALOT of supplements, and also in some gluten free products! Hydroxypropyl or carboxy or such chemical words with -cellulose. Beware as a known gut irritant also. It’s annoying it’s used in food and supplements. Humans cannot digest cellulose.

I had a similar problem… pharmacist thinks it is the coating. I now buy vit tabs which are labelled as gluten free. More expensive, but better than that reaction. I also buy gluten free rehydration drinks for when I am upset.
