Hi jojo,

Welcome to our community!

Whatever happens next will probably result in you concentrating more on your diet than you have before.

This is NOT a bad outcome, in fact very positive.

Not sure if you have been recommended to have an endoscopy, but whatever the out come you will , I suggest, need to start looking at a diet thats exclude gluten, but not necessary oats.

Hang in there and draw comfort that there are 100's, 1000's, maybe millions, that are managing their diets in a similar manner, that will prolong our lives and make life more comfortable. I t requires effort, but the long term benefits are well worth it,

Best of luck.

Peter

Thank you peter. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Don't really know much about it. So knowing the group is here. I know I can get help with anything. Thanks

Hi jojo9, firstly you're in good company on here so well done for joining us.

Now what is really important is that you keep eating gluten until after the hospital referral, this is because they will want to look at your villi and when we eat gluten the villi collapses hence the need for gluten in the diet.

So my advice is eat all the foods that you will miss the most and indulge yourself until after diagnosis at the hospital.

Then it is a steep learning curve so take it one step and one meal at a time and hopefully you will start to feel the benefits of a gluten free diet and it will all soon become second nature.

Many of us find that a gluten free diet based on fresh and naturally gluten free foods is much healthier, than one based on the substitute foods available in the free from aisles but like I said you want to take it one step at a time.

So just hang in there with the gluten and if you have any more questions/queries then you just ask away as we were all newbies once...so we know, we've been there.

And good luck,

Jerry

Hi Jojo, welcome

I suggest you also join Coeliac UK, they provide lots of helpful information on Coeliac and a booklet on gluten free foods..

I have had coeliac for 13 years now and it takes a bit of getting used to at first, but definitely do-able.. It is actually a very healthy diet and I feel really really well most of the time.

There will be ups and downs but a referral to a dietician and joining Coeliac UK will all help you get your head round things.

All the best

Ellen
