i find a lot of restaurants say can do gluten free but have no idea about cross contamination.and the results afterwards speak for themselves.
I am not sensitive to cross contamination. If I ate in restaurants every day that the food was compromised I am sure my symptoms would appear
Well done! How long did it take and how do you know your villi are back? Assume you have had another gastroscopy but my GP has refused that. Not ready for it yet anyway as I was only diagnosed in August with quite severe damage, but I assumed I would be followed up with a repeat, but my GP says that doesn't happen on NHS- ?
I do already feel much better but assume that is because I'm now taking vitamins absorbed in my mouth rather than via intestines.
Would be interested to know how anyone else is followed up
Doctor did my lower GI a year earlier because he sampled a found blood in my stool. Found blood from a hemmroid or polyp. Zapped the polyp and found no sign of celiac disease but said it would come back if I ate foods with gluten.
Ate some hard Christmas candy yesterday and had a moderate celiac attach.
Obviously the candy contained gluten as I was once warned by my dietitian to watch out for hard candies.
I never got a follow up gastroscopy, as like you, they're not done on the NHS. I wish I could have had one as I have always felt I have never got back to normal, even after 8years. I still have issues with dairy, and have to greatly limit how much I have in a day. I also take multivitamins, as, even though I feel a eat a healthy diet, as I don't know how much I absorb I feel it's a 'belt and braces' safeguard.
Get it done ASAP plus blood work to determine you B12 level
The lectos center are close to the gluten centers as l am simplifying things for you so I'm not surprised
Thanks Rosie. It would have been nice to get a little reassurance that we were getting the diet right!
Sad to say that today a lot of cafes etc are putting up a sign saying gluten free without any idea as to what's involved. I had a gf toasty a few days ago at a cafe it was ok but the ham showed signs of been breaded. Would love to eat out a bit more but concerns over how things are being done puts me off. It needs a much better standard of training for staff
some restaurants have coeliac uk approval. I always fine Carluccios good and Ask so usually stick to those two.
I find eating at friends a nightmare, they often think they know but don't. I find myself becoming more unsociable as a result.Boring to repeat oneself, not very pleasurable to be limited while others enjoying food that one could eat if it was prepared gluten free.
I do well when I eat naturally gluten free foods in as natural a state as possible, boring yes but I feel great
( when I am tempted by "treats" sometimes ok and sometimes not).
