Has anyone had any coeliac type reactions from ingestion of yeast, eg from bread

Yeast
It's possible to have problems with any foods. Not sure how you could single out yeast as a problem? If you are experiencing problems after eating gluten free bread, it may be caused by the emulsifiers.
I struggle with most gluten free products, unless homemade. anyone know why.?
This applies to a lot of people. It seems to be the additives, like emulsifiers, that sensitive guts can't cope with. For example, xantham gum can act as a laxative. There have been discussions on this in past posts.

There has been some research done on rats, which showes that emulsifiers caused gut problems.
Many many years ago, I had to do an elimination diet. I think I had to eat a small amount of dried yeast <barf> to see if I reacted to it and, boy, did I react. It was pretty dire, and I was very unwell (I probably don't need to go into much detail!) After letting everything settle down, I had the same reaction a second time several weeks later.
I think someone was having a laugh asking you to eat yeast. No wonder you were ill.
The only yeast I've eaten as yeast is brewer's yeast in tablet form when I used to train (before CD diagnosis). They're not advisable for people with inflammatory bowel disorders.
Yeasts can have a deleterious effect on the body, causing candida, thrush etc.
Eeeeek, let's hope that maybe it was brewer's yeast I had, I just can't remember. I hadn't been diagnosed with anything at all the time anyway - I was feeling so dreadful most of the time, I don't think anything I ate could have made me worse.
The elimination diet was done by a (proper) dietitican, and actually resolved most of my problems, so it worked out in the end.
