I bought some today after craving Marmite for the last 6 months, it says on line it is gluten free but not on the jar. Has anyone else tried it? Is it ok?

I have. You're right, it is listed as a gluten free product on their website but I agree it's odd they don't put that on the jar.

There are two kinds, one with salt and one without. The one with salt is the one that tastes like marmite - better actually. I bought the salt-free one once by mistake and it tastes disgusting.

Hi babe patricia here what I would say to you dont trust the labelling if it doesn't say gluten free on it leave it out becouse I trusted foods that didn't say gluten free on the labelling & I got glutened so many times &felt like hell for days its not worth it wat I always say if in doubt leave it out becouse this coeliac disease is hard enough coping with all the do.s & donts in where there is hidden gluten so be safe hun patricia

God I know what you mean. I have got ulcers on my tongue now I wonder if it was that or just a coincidence?

Lots of things are naturally gluten-free but won't have a gluten-free label on it. This article - I don't know when it is from but it looks fairly recent suggests that Meridian is OK:

Great article Claudio!

I can usually detect small amounts of gluten in foods, even below 20ppm. I get ill if there is any. So far I've been OK with the salted meridian yeast extract. I hope it is ok for you.

Late to this post, but I react to all Meridian products. They produce barley malt on same production line. State they wash-down, but I still would not trust any product produced on a line with barley malt/gluten containing product.
