Such sore eyes with Lumigan

YoungontheOutside profile image

Five days ago, my consultant has switched me to Lumigan preservative free single use eyedrops to apply at night. My eyes have been so sore since the switch. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can alleviate this? 🙏

Are you using preservative free drops? These tend to cause less irritation. Itherthanthattey using moisture drops at least 10 mins beforehand. If your eyes are dry they can be uncomfortable. I heard someone say it’s maybe something to do with the ph difference.

They are single use preservative free. But I will take your tip and try 10 minutes beforehand with Hyabak eyedrops. Thank you 😊

It is recommended to leave a gap at least 20 minutes either side for any type of dry eye lubricated, before putting in your glaucoma drops.

Hi. I have been using these drops for a year now and up til a week ago, had no discomfort. but since starting a new box, that says preservative free on it, it has stung my eyes.

I`ve used Lumigan (Bimatoprost) starting in 2011 and a few years ago was changed to Ganfort which is Bimatoprost and Timolol. Both are the ones which contain preservative.

When I first started using the Lumigan I had very itchy skin on my eyelids and underneath my eyes so I started to put a little E45 Cream above and below my eyes. This works for me - no more itching.

I forgot to say that I don`t put the E45 Cream round my eyes anywhere near the time I normally put my drops in which is at bedtime. I put the cream round in the morning when I`m getting myself ready.

And I always wipe up any excess eyedrops from around my eyes after putting them in.

Talk to Ophthalmologist asap if making your eyes red...may be allergic to it now. I find that if I do not change my Ganfort drops after 30 days I am soon reminded as I start to get a red eye then too...because it is beyond it's "sell-by", Check the dates to be sure.
