My Chemist is having difficulty in getting Latanoprost drops and now I am getting worried! Is anybody else having difficulty getting this and is there a shortage?

yes I am having difficulty getting these drops, I intend to contact the eye clinic for help. I understand from another post on here that there is a general shortage

me too. Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternative please. I’ve been told not to use the latanoprost with preservatives. Why would this be?

Travoprost Preservative free are better than Monosopt for me as Monosopt cause me allergies .e.g. very sore red eyes, headaches

thank you. I am having to use with pres. until my usual Latanoprost becomes available so fingers crossed it won’t be for too long

That’s awful! I will give it a couple of weeks to see if they become available and if not I will then phone the Eye Department to see what they have to say. Thank you for your reply.

Hi, I asked my GP to switch me from Latanaprost to Xalatan as these do not need to be kept in a fridge as, when travelling, I don't always have access to a fridge. My pharmacist and GP were both happy with the switch. Hope this helps,

Dave

My Latanoprost is without preservatives and they do not have to be kept in a fridge. Thank you for your reply Dave.

Hi Karjade I was told by Boots this week that they couldn’t get my drops until May. I contacted other pharmacies to see who could get them, when I found one I contacted my surgery who then reissued the prescription so I managed to get them by doing this. Hope you manage to get yours x

thank you for that. I have tried to get hold of Boots all day by phone and they never pick up. I will have to go up there next week. In the meantime I will phone some other chemists to see if they have got them. Thank you for your reply.
