Epidural for Cystopscopy?

I'd swerve that one mate, there's absolutely nothing particularly unpleasant with a cystoscopy and its over and done in a couple of minutes.....unless he is talking surgery just a check up doesn't need any anaesthesia.

Hope all goes well by the way!

I've had 6 or 7 hard with general anesthesia (biopsy + RPG) and one soft with local - no problems really with any

I tend to agree. When I had a cystoscopy, it was only with a local anesthetic. Can't say I didn't feel anything, but it was over and done with in a relatively short period of time. An epidural really sounds excessive.

Jim, you only need a local anesthetic for a flexible cystoscopy, which is used to just view the inside of the bladder. A general anesthetic or epidural is required for a non-flexible cystoscopy, where they use a wider non-flexible tube and can take biopsies.

A check cystoscopy can involve taking biopsies, which requires a wider non-flexible tube and a general anesthetic or an epidural. It's the flexible cystoscopy, which is just used for viewing the bladder, which only requires anesthetic gel.
