UTI....stinging when peeing...urgency... Strong smelling urine

Bladder cancer my symptoms were urgency and urine had a strange smell ...as weeks went on I had a pain on right of groin...later found out this was tumour pressing on a nerve

A sign of bladder cancer is blood in urine

Please don't start worrying... Go to doctor for a urine test first

UTIs main infection, stinging, frequent urgent 'need' to urinate. But UTI very common in women and are usually NOT symptoms of bladder cancer. I had them increasingly frequent over 12 months. Initially antibiotics eliminated infection but then they ceased to be effective. I then got 'rigour' attacks, frightening severe cold, involuntary shaking all over. GP fast tracked me to gynae- who then transferred me to urology.

I had then and never since had any symptoms of bladder cancer. It was only found & diGnosed from an ultrasound followed by a cystoscopy. Then diagnosed as low grade cancer in tissue- 2 years ago. All & frequent treatment has contained/ reduced it but it persists. Otherwise I lead a very active life.

Blood in your pee is the main indicator, but bleeding can be caused by other stuff as well so it doesn't mean you definitely have cancer! The main thing is if you pee blood, get to the doctor because bladder cancer is much easier to treat if it's caught early. I have a small early stage tumour so recovery rates are very high. So glad I didn't leave it!

Hi,make an appointment to see your doctor he should start the ball rolling for a cystoscopyThis process involves a tube in your private parts, you will receive some pain relief and apart from a little embarrassment is pain free. You will see inside your bladder on the TV monitor and the doctor will then Inform you as to what's going on.I had a tumour was removed and follow-up all clear,so for now Cancer free. The best of luck,if you have close family and friends include them mine were such a support before and after.Take care

I first noticed very small amount of blood in my urine on two occasions. I was eventually diagnosed with bladder cancer. I had one tumor removed which was a grade 2, non invasive, thank goodness.

Thanks everyone for your replies to me re: bladder infection/cancer. I have been prescribed antibiotics from GP and feeling a lot better now so think perhaps infection now cleared up x

The minute you see blood in your urine get yourself to a urologist asap.

Not a GP.

My toilet bowl was full of dark red blood. Went to gyn. Ruled out infection.

Then PCP who did a urine sample. full of blood. Next step urologist who did a

cystoscopy and found a tumor. Tumor removed 6 days later and a week after that

biopsy done. High grade t1 bladder cancer non invasive. Will have my third BCG

next week. Two rules of thumb. Blood in urine, make appt. with Urologist ASP.

Positive attitude is essential.
