Staying positive...

In 2007 I had on five occasions, skin cancer removed, mainly arms, head and legs.  That was at the beginning of the year

In March I woke up with dead blue fingers and no pulse in my left arm,  an angiogram añd angioplasty showed that I had a large blood clot in my neck, bits were coming off the clot and could have brought on a stroke or worst still death.  4 stents were put into my neck añd arm and after more treatment I was soon back to normal.

Late March I found a lump in my left breast and within a week I had that removed añd had 21 days of radiation,  on my last treatment I asked them was it normal to have blood in my water, was it anything to do with the radiation.    NO they said and further examination showed I had bladder cancer which was not connected to the breast cancer.

They lost no time in getting me back to surgery and removed the cancer completely, I then had three lots of chemotherapy añd started my three monthly trips for cystoscopies. Along with three monthly trips to oncolonist and breast surgeon.

So that was all my cancers over and done with and apart from falling and breaking my neck badly leaving me permanently in a wheelchair and a terrible smash up while driving on the motorway, I could say that I am fit and healthy, I am now 69 and have decided that I am having no more. I am going to enjoy the rest of my life my way.

I have travelled to India three times now on my own and will be doing that for many years to come and I am positive about that.

I am new here but I won't ramble on any more but please spread the word, don't ignore changes, get checked out as soon as you spot anything different, no one is going to think your a nuisance añd it could save your life.

So bye from me for now, I will be reading all your posts and I hope life is still good for you whatever happens.

Hi Pamydon,

Good for you!

Always set your goals, and go for it.

Give yourself aims and achieve them. Life is for living, despite adversity.

I have always said that I intend to live long enough to let something other than the current affliction, kill me! That way you should live for ever. So far, so good, as they say.

I know that we are all different, but my philosophy has got me through:-

Type 2 diabetes

Dilated cardio myopathy

Heart attack

2 Strokes

Osteoarthritis

I virtually never had a day of illness until I reached my mid 50`s, and took everything for granted etc.

I do not consider any of my health concerns as a battle to be won or lost, nor even as a problem, but just as one more inconvenience to deal with. With the help of extremely dedicated and understanding professionals, who know what they are doing, I intend to follow their instructions to the letter.

After all the alternative scenario is not even worth contemplating, is it?

Best of health to all,

David, in the wilds of  Northumberland.

Have just sent you a message....however, I have just read your account above, and am truly inspired by your courage and adventurous spirit.

Last week, I was really weak (physically and mentally) and began to wonder if life was worth living......(previously, have mainly been an optimist - so this shows how low the UTI had made me). I was angry about the treatment by so-called "professionals" in a local hospital - but maybe I was unlucky. There ARE some dedicated people working in our NHS, and you are living proof of it!

Please carry on posting.....some of us need the kind of encouragement you give.

Here's to your continued healing and happy travels......

Looby x
