I need financial help, do you know what I can do or what help is out there as I have been turned down for DLA. Thanks.
Are you working or claiming any benefits at the moment ?..
VG x
It's always a good idea to claim any benefits available.
We have always recommended asking CAB for advice, but I believe that most branches have had to make cuts due to decreased funding and more demand for services. You could try your local branch to see if they can help you.
Your own bank might help, too - they are surprisingly knowledgeable about managing financial crises - well maybe not so surprising!
My bank manager was extremely helpful to me when I hit rock-bottom a few years back, so that's worth a thought.

Hi , I completely understand . Everyone has said to me claim DLA , but I havnt because I darnt , I know I will be turned down . I'm struggling I've gone self employed now because if I can't work so much ,, and miss a day here and there bearly holding onto my job. My lady whom I work for has been incredibly understanding and very helpful , she even insists on telling me to take it easy and gives me the lightest work. If I ring on sick she is lovley infacts treats me as her own family . So I'm lucky. If I was in mainstream work I would know what the heck to do. I'm ill again off sick again . I'm allways ill . Think it's unbelievably hard and unfair for the sick and disabled . I hear so many people having a hard time just trying to claim sick and disability . Problem is whist they are waiting what happens in the meantime . I'm struggling really struggling so all I can think is. People will Infact have less money to live in than I. So what's happening with them . I've started doing swap parties with clothes to help mine and others situation . I don't send clothes to charity anymore I actually pass them on to people I know because they are struggling too. Everything unused or unneeded goes in the shed till someone needs it. I used to have three charities and my daughter and I used to raise funds for the RSPCA. We were avid charity workers and I fostered Cats. I'm now struggling to feed my own .
I can't even afford my cat insurance. It's awful . I wish I could do something to help you. At least the warmer weather has come and you may save money on heating costs . That may help. I all ready live in fairly low rent so I don't need to move but I did consider for a while taking a two bedroomed flat but the thought of having to rehome my darling cats was more than I could bear.
I tried ringing the soscial services in my area through winter to see if they could help but they can't unless your registard disabled .
Although you can get a reduction on your heating bills ask your provider , that's if your income is benifits .
My love to you friend and I sympathise with your situation ,, Joanne x
Well they've cut bk on everything they can, they're are now charging people whom are unemployed I hear council tax, a small percentage , there's the bedroom tax. NHS cuts and now it's hard to get disability benifits . I hope I don't offend anyone by saying ,,, wonder how much the government paid out to pay for Margrette Thatchers funeral ,,,
I agree with what you are saying all the cuts to benefits and genuine people struggling and wasting money on the funeral xx
I was awarded DLA 2 yrs ago after i saw a DOCTOR at ATOS and not a NURSE i was awarded it for 2 yrs only so i will be worrying what will happen when this new pip thing comes into force, I have a mobility car which if i loose will be completely housebound and ive heard its a lot harder to get pip. I wish someone would just shoot David Cameron and his stooges they are causing so much grief to people that genuinly need the help.
Sorry whats ATOS and pip? Thanks. I had an assessment bout 8 months ago but as u know the pain changes on a daily basis it just isnt good enough.
Atos are the people who deal with the medical assessments for benefit. There are others. Pip is the new benefit replacing dla over next few years xx
I've been on DLA for about 9 years now but I was turned down and had to appeal at the beginning. Always appeal. I think they always turn people down to start with in the hopes they'll be put off and just go away, even when they really need and are entitled to the benefit. So, yes, as other people have suggested, get help and advice from the CAB and try again - and don't accept it if they turn you down. I know it's exhausting and soul-destroying but honestly it's the only way. Good luck! xx
