Hiya, this morning I was feeling more dozy than normal, and by mistake took my medication twice, I normally take 40mg daily, today I took 80mg, and I feel a lot better today, does anybody out there take 80mg as normal. I am thinking of asking my G.P to increase the dose.Would be grateful to hear any replys. Joycex
Duloxetine: Hiya, this morning I was... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Duloxetine
The maximum recommended dose of Duloxetine is 60 mgms daily, tho' up to 120 mgms would not be considered a dangerous overdose.
It may be that you would do better on the 60 mgm dose, but you should check with your doctor first.
Hope this is helpful

My doctor just changed 1 of my usual drugs to 60mg duloxitine every nite as its also supposed to help with sleep. Not sure if its helping with the pain but I must admit I've had couple best nites sleep I've had in a long time. Maybe u should talk to ur doc bout upping ur drug to c how it helps xx
Thankyou for your reply, I started on Duloxetine on 2 doses one in the morning and the other in the evening, but I was awake all night, so had to change to 1 dose in the morning. But doesn't it show you how the same drug can effect 2 people so differentIy,think it took about a month before I felt any benefit pain wise. Glad to hear you are getting a good sleep, that is something isn't it. I take 10mg Amitriptyline at night, and I sleep very well,This was recommended to me at the pain clinic at the hospital.xx
My pain team has asked my GP to prescribe Duloxetine 30mg, but will consider 60mg. Does anyone suffer from blurred vision or lack of consentration during the day from this medication? I dont want to trial these tablets as cant afford to be dozy during the day x
I was prescribed duloxetine, originally 30mg at night and then 60mg at night. I was never prescribed them during the day.
Unfortunately they were not for me as they gave me major retention, that I was nearly hospitalised for. As with everything fibro, they work well for some and not for others.
Thank you for your reply. Think im going to give them a try just need to make sure im off wrk first :s
I was at pain clinic and it was they who recommended the change of my medication. I was warned it makes u drowsy so take it in evening. Tonites only my 3rd nite but last 2 nites iv slept great, I suppose it could b a coincidence but I'm not complaining as long as get nites sleep, cant remember the last time I slept a full nite never mind 2 nites in a row. I was originally prescribed amitriptyline many yrs ago when I was 1st diagnosed but I kept collapsing and suffering severe flare ups which left me hospitalised on many occassion and they put it down to the amitriptyline but it is amazing the different ways these drugs affect us. I've been diagnosed 17yrs so have done the rounds with 2 many meds 2 mention xx
They never made me drowsy, quite the opposite, I feel that I have more energy than I have had in years. I was diagnosed with ME 27 years ago and fibro last year, but to me I think it was fibro all the time, or I have had both. The specialist I see is not sure that is ME and fibro are the same illness, or two separate ones. I was managing the ME quite well until two years ago when my doctor changed my meds and put me on Sertraline, It was a horrible drug which made my illness flare up, and my troubles started. I am just getting back to an even keel now, thanks to the pain management doctors at the hospital. xx
Hi I have been on 60g in the morning and pain clinic have altered that to 120 I had some 30s so I gradually went up and it certainly helped with pain in day . I was sitting here deciding weather to take 60 morn and eve and see if night simprove . I dont know xgins
Hiya,
I found that taking them in the evening kept me awake, but everyone is different, I think that
the dose you take should last you 24hours until you take the next dose. I have been to the doctors today and he has put me on 60mg from 40mg. Why not have a word with your pharmacist, they always put me right if I need advice.Good luck hope you feel better. Joyce x
