Good med for fibromyalgia. Often takes 2 weeks for pain relief and a few extra for antidepressant effects. 30mg good starting dose but 60mg might be better.

Hi ann52 and welcome to our wonderful forum ☺I'm sure you will come to find the forum invaluable in chatting to others who are going through the same experience as you & talking to others at different stages of their lives with Fibro & learning from their experiences.

It does help with the whole process and I wish I had found the site years ago. I have had Fibro for nearly 30 yrs and I'm still learning about it, like we are.

You don't say if you have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I'm presuming you have been. Have you only just been diagnosed ?

I do hope you feel better soon and if this is a new medication, I hope it helps.

Please do go look at the mother site where you will find all the information you need and lots of useful links on Fibro and I look forward to chatting to you on the forum.

Peace, luv n light

Jan ☺

Hi ann52

Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are feeling the way that you are and I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution to your situation.

I was wonderful if you have spoken to your doctor or local authority about having an 'Occupational Therapy Assessment?' As somebody could come along and visit you and see where you may need some help and sort it out for you? It may be worth considering this my friend.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hi ann52

Welcome to the forum :)

I very much hope that the Duloxetine works for you. Some people can suffer with some side effects with this medication, but hopefully you will not get them.

I feel sure that you will enjoy the friendship, support and fun here on the forum.

Please do feel free to jump in with everything that is going on. We are a very all inclusive group and everyone is welcome to join in.

As Ken TheAuthor has said, get in touch with your local Council and see if someone from Occupational Health can visit you, to see if they are able to help you with anything.

Wishing you less pain and more peace

Hi I've been on Duloxatine for three years first month can be difficult for some. I feel the benefits outweigh the cons, I am also on gabapentin together they seem to gave given me some respite from the pain and the ability to be more active. I have tried a few since diagnosis and this is the combination that I can cope with I hope it works for you xx

Hi ann , you beat me to the question about this! I was going to post asking about Duloxatine as I now have a report from my rheumatologist recommending this. Im really not sure about trying it though as most things seem to have effects on me. Around 10 years ago I was put on fluoxetine the same as Prozac and yes it helped with my emotional state but it also changed me completely to not a very nice person who didn't give a sh*t about anyone or anything! So I stopped taking them. I'm in a really dark place at the moment so feel that I do need some help but after reading about the side effects of Duloxatine like hallucinations and suicidal thoughts, I'm a bit scared to go ahead and ask to get prescribed them. Amitriptyline does help with the sleeping but again they wipe me out for days and last week I had hallucinations a couple of days after, maybe it's just all the tiredness and depression catching up with me, I don't know .

I hope that they work for you and would be interested to know if you do seem to have any side effects.

All the best

Hi Jo

Do you mind me asking what time of day you were taking the Amitryptyline and what mg you were on?

Hi Lu, I was put on the 25g and was taking around 7pm, I don't go to bed untill after midnight, have always been a night owl. I wake up every 2 hours though and then just start clock watching untill the alarm goes off at 7am to get my kids up. But I was just falling asleep during the day or after collecting the kids again. I have dropped down to 10mg now but he it doesn't help with the other symptoms. I took it last Monday early evening as I needed to get some sleep as had to be up at 5.30am to get my son to his eye appointment at Moorfields in London. Then on the Wednesday after collecting the kids from school I though I could see a large wooden black box on my front lawn...which then disappeared! Then later on though I saw a huge spider on the living room wall! This quite scared me as I remember a boyfriend from years ago who smoked weed and used to get paranoid and kept looking behind him saying there were spiders crawling up the wall! I have never taken drugs, don't smoke and no longer drink!...lol!

Hi Jo

I just wondered whether you had tried altering the timing of taking your Amitryptyline, which you obviously already have.

Also altering the dosage - which you have done.

Like you I have terrible trouble with antidepressants and side effects that is why I am on one of the older ones.

I have tried so many, all with the same awful side effects, but then I am the same with antibiotics too.

Hi Ann...

I'm also on Duloxetine 60mg morning and night along with Pregabalin 300mg morning and night and some others...

I find it best to just rest when you need too and take one day at a time, I can't sleep for more than 2 hours at any one time and am wiped out after being awake for abt 4 hours, when energy is low the pains seem to go up, life can be very difficult and different with this invisible disorder but there are good days ahead also...

Talk to people here who have the same symptoms, find out as much as you can, meds work differently with each person, it's also worthwhile googling the meds like typing in "meds used to treat fibromyralgia" and above all you are not alone so never give up hope and take life real easy :)

Blessings to you Ann

Hugh, Belfast.

I believe that Duloxetine increases Adrenaline so it may give you more energy.
