Changing to an automatic car has definitly made life a lot easier for me. I drive a Peugeot 308 and love it, nice hight of seat for getting in and out (although I do struggle slightly) but its much better than my daughters BMW, I feel like I'm sitting on the floor in that :-) Happy shopping x

Hi Bluebahog

I think it really depends on your personal needs. You could always write a list of your needs first. As Kasha said an automatic maybe advantageous. A car with a low seat maybe easy to get into but a knightmare to get out of! You may like to think of how many doors you need and whether you have a boot or hatchback. The latter are better for putting shopping in.

Maybe you need to go and try lots of different cars and test drive them before making your final decision.

Hi, I've just had a ford bmax and its just perfect it's easy to get in and out of as the front doors open completely out and the back doors slide back. The seat is a brilliant height to get on and off, it has an arm rest to, the boot can be different heights to suit you, it's got good vision, comfortable and easy to get in and out of. If possible take one for a test drive, hope this helps, Judith xxx

Me too. I take my aunty out a few times a week, and she always remarks what a wonderful car it is. My dad left it to my daughter in his will and she let me have it. Will def go for another one!! XX

I agree with the fact that it depends on your personal requirements and to be able to help you better it would be helpful if you could highlight the aspects of Fibro that make most of an impact on your daily life.

I personally currently drive a VW Touran which is perfect, room for my wheelchair and the kids. It is also hip height for me to get in so there is not too much bending down when I am in pain.

I am picking my new car up on the 12th Feb, and this time I am getting a Skoda Yeti. It is smaller than the Touran but has basically the same benefits. It is still high enough to get in and out of, same boot space for my chair and it is the same chasis as my Touran.

Are you buying the car, or are you (like me) in receipt of higher rate mobilty and getting it on the scheme?

Defo an automatic for me. I said I would never drive one and now I wouldn't go back. xxx

Then what I would suggest is going on the Motability website and having a look through the list of cars and the deposits as this can be a big factor in deciding a car.
