Hi All, just wondered if anyone experiences this:

I get pain in my hip area which then goes down to my knee, from the knee it feels like shin splints and the side and top of my ankle down to my toes hurt so bad I can hardly walk. I have had this once before back in December and again now. What can it be and is it related to fibro?

Thanks Vivien, it helps when others can verify something. I think I must have the worst luck as I have terrible pain in my shoulders everyday, my neck plays up all the time and therefore have loads of headaches/migraines, my upper back by my shoulder blades is also troublesome and painful most days and now my hip ect too. I have Degenerative Disc Disease too so have pain in the lower back and the fibro plays havoc there too with the sensitive spots. I seem to suffer with being hot one minute then cold the next...haven't got a clue but read somewhere that our internal thermometers don't work??? The fibro fog is another wonderful experience...NOT!!! I suffer with IBS...wow I could write a book on my symptoms.

With Fibromyalgia each case tends to be different but we do tend to have widespread chronic pain which can affect most parts of our bodies. Please see below info taken from our main site at FibroAction which explains more about this -

You could also be suffering from Neuropathic pain which is chronic nerve pain that results either from damage to the nerves that normally sense pain or from injury to a part of the nervous system that transmits pain signals, such as the spine or the brain.

I would suggest that you speak to your GP about this pain and hopefully they will be able to advise you and to help you manage it. It could be Fibromyalgia related, but your GP would need to see you to rule anything else out or to possibly refer you for further investigations.

I hope you get some comfort soon.

Thanks for the advice Libs. My doc has referred me to the pain clinic as he doesn't know what else to do with me...out of suggestions apparently!!! Hopefully someone there will know fibro more than my GP.

Gentle hugs.

Yes it is very common to fibro and can be a real pain(pardon the pun)at times. I am getting it a lot latley in the left side as I am limping badly on the right foot. It puts intolerable strain on me. Try a wheat bag that you can warm up in the microwave. Another good thing to try is some Radian-B in your bath xxxxx

Oh no that's just wonderful. Thanks for the advice about the wheat bag...will give it a try. Unfortunately I have a walk in shower, no bath which is a shame.

Gentle hugs.

Oh hun, I would be so lost without my bath, my bath and Radian-B have been a godsend at times. But good luck with the wheat bag xxxxx
