How many people suffer with tmjd as part of their fibro?

Had jaw pain for so long now, did some research a while back and spoke on here and pretty sure i have tmjd which ive just always tried to control with pain relief and a hot water bottle on the worst side of my jaw always helped a bit.

The pain today is almost unbearable, going all through my jaw, into my ears and up to my head.

Who is best to visit, the gp or a dentist?

Ive had to have 3 of my wisdow teeth removed as they just cracked and crumbled, could this be a tmjd symptom?

Thanks

Xx

Ps, had to write tmjd as i cant even say the name let alone spell it!!

My jaw kept popping and I mentioned it to the dentist and he diagnosed TMJ. He advised that the disc to stop the jaw and skull grinding when you open your mouth had moved. He gave me some exercises to do twice a day and Ive not had any problem with it in 7 months and counting

I suffer from this also, my dentist recommended mouth guard and made me one to fit. I still suffer but not just as much. I recommend going to see your dentist and see what he recommends for you x

I went to gp today and he said as he couldnt feel any clicking it was just muscle pain. Even my daughter sat next to me could here the click so how he could say there was nothing i dont know!

Hes told me to up my meds which seem to be his answer for everything, i have begged them to let me try something instead of gabapentin but each time i just get told to up the dose!

I was in the dentist with my daughter and asked for some.advice and they reccommend a mouth guard but the problem i have is that as i also have tourettes one of my tics is that i clack my teeth together all the time and bite then together quite hard which the dentist saod will make it worse but i have no control over doing it so im a bit stuck really!

Just hope the pain eases tomorrow, i have never had it as painful as this.

X

You could try Bowen therapy for this. It helps to Relax the tension of the muscles of the face, head and neck, it should relieve the pain.

Well fingers crossed it nay not be tmjd after all!

The day after this post i went to dentist in pain like never before and told them to rip all my teeth out if thats what was needed!

Went through my history with dentist, she said sounded very much like tmjd so had a feel of jaw then a look in my mouth and discovered a very infected wisdom tooth!

She couldnt believe i hadnt had more regular pain and thinks this could have been the cause of a good few months worth of on/off pain.

Removed the wisdom tooth and still in a lot of pain but once swelling and bruising has gone down i hope that will be the end of it all and not another condition to add to the ever growing list!

X
