Lately i have been clenching my jaw all the time and eespecially in my sleep because as i start coming round in the morning my jaw really aches!
I am trying not to do this but even as i type now i am aware of it happening. Does anyone else have this problem and do you think it is fibro related? x

Hi there, I have this too it's known as TMJ (temporomandibular joint). I hve had this for about 14 years now and tend to clench my jaw alot, especially at night when I'm sleeping. It can then result in excruciating pain which I find can start in the face and move up in to the head. I take Amitriptyline which I take about an hour before I go to bed.
Have a word with your GP but it sounds like TMJ to me xx
Yes I have had it I went to the dentist and they gave me a mouth gaurd to wear of a night whilst sleeping, its helped a great deal but I still do it butnot as bad also I get a locking and a swelling when I am chewing but it goes after a while
Hello Charlie, sorry to hear you are experiencing pain in your jaw. If you click on the link below it will take you to a discussion we had a while ago on the subject.
This only started happening to me in the last six months and as yet I have not reprted it to my GP, just assumed it was the fibro. But what I do find annoying is the fact that my jaw goes off on a heppy virtually every nights. It moves from side to side extremely fast all on its own and I can tell it to sptop but it just carries on. If I touch my chin it stops, if I move my finger it starts again so I just let it do its own thing until it is ready to stop. But it leaves me in a lot of pain afterwards. I hope you get it sorted out soon xxxxx
