Does anyone else suffer with chronic back pain caused by muscular spasms .my back is so tight its as hard as a rock! I'm stiff, hurts when I move but mostly at night in bed. I take anti inflamitary and cosine drugs every night before bed just to allow me a few hours sleep before the pain awakes me and tells me I need more! The pain gets that intense and muscles so hard that it crushes my lungs and I can hardly breath! I can't get any sleep at the mo it has gone really bad,can anyone recommend any better drugs ? I feel like a walking zombie.

Mine are in my shoulders and neck so bad this time it made me take to my bed as I could not support my head... I have had minor back spasms but for me it's mainly higher, off to get my trigger point injections on Thursday to release them..... Oh blisss. If yours are bad have you asked your GP for a referral to a pain clinic that does these injections.. I have them every 3 months .. Mild discomfort for 24 hours then relief.....

If I get a spasm my GP will give me. A short course of diazepam that works wonders but I have these spasms very rarely now due to the injections.. This recent one was totally unexpected

Hello Shellf,

I suffer with chronic back, shoulder and neck pain, the pain is so intense most of the time. I am taking Gabapentin, Amitriptyline and Tramadol slow release tablets & breakthrough tablets. I am still in a lot of pain but I am working with the pain clinic and my GP to try and control the pain a bit better. I go for weekly massages which are great, I am a little tender the next day but it definitely loosens my muscles especially in my neck and shoulders. I use the TENS machine as well which seems to help a little.

The pain clinic have been great, I had the steroid injections the same as VeryGrumpy, about a year ago now and they did not work for me but it is worth a try.

Hope this helps!

C xx

Hi thank you for that, I was offered pain clinic a while back from my physio but I turned it down because I thought it would be a waste of time, just like the physio was. I shall ask my gp to refer me straight away. I also take gabapentin,co codamol and naproxen along side vitamin d and calcium tabs and lansoprozole .feel like I'm rattling I take that much! Had this back problem for 3 years now and I've suffered long enough, fingers crossed these injections work because if they did it would be pure bliss, can't imagine my life without pain, I ache everywhere aswell but my back tops them all. Thanks for yr advice x
