Morning fairytails
I had a home visit last Tuesday, the first thing the Dr did was to ask questions about what I could and couldn't do and what help I needed from my partner,i had laid out all my meds and ID for him to record,i also pit out variouse letters from different health proffesionals for him to look at even though it was not requested but i thought it may help, also i let him see all the aids i use...hand supports, crutch, walking stick,he then got me to do some basic hand and head movements,he asked to see me walk upstairs and lie on the bed where he felt my knee and feet movement, during this time I noticed he was looking at my dressing table and its contents,I had put some things away and had put out all the creams I use,so if you have things in the drawer then put them out so he can see what you use, then he got really sneaky,he asked if he could wash his hands whilst I got off bed and I was aware that he was watching me through the crack of the door to see how I got off bed! He then went down stairs to gather up his paperwork, when I came down stairs we said our good byes,I also said happy Christmas to him which seemed to mellow him!
So things you could do are..clear away things that may clutter your way from lounge to bedroom, even coats that may hang at bottom of stairs, just get rid of anything you can,you don't want him to see you moving stuff in a hurry to get past things.
Even though I don't use the bath anymore I still moved all things around bath so he didn't think i still used it.
Put all the things you use like creams out in the bedroom..even if its things you don't use all the time..things like ibugels, sudocream, dry hair shampoo.
Sometimes I have to use tena pads, these are things I wouldn't leave out for all to see but I put them in the bathroom.
These are all things I do use but don't keep on show, its just letting him now that you do need to use them.
They will watch and listen to everything you do so you need to really focus on every question and think about out all the things he will be looking out for in your home and that way you should be ok.
I have absolutely no idea how I got on,I'm just going to forget about it know.
I wish you luck,I'm sure you will be ok.
Happy Christmas fairytails.

It is a long time since I had a home visit so I am sorry hun, I have no idea what to expect now of these doctors. But I hope it all goes well for you. But why slap bang in the middle of the holidays for godsake. Can't you even have Xmas in peace xxxxx
No advice really because despite two appointments he didnt turn up... I did all the things advised moved laptop & mobile phones etc . They then did an on paper assessment which i thougt would be ok to be placed in WRAG and am going to be cured within the year despite being ill since 1996. Make sure you keep copies of everything, but I do hope it goes well for you and do try to have a good Christmas xx
Make sure there is someone in the house with you to do things like open the door to the Assessor and to sit with you during your assessment (helpful to have a witness too).
Because of Atos' habit of assuming much out of something you may find unrelated to the world of work, don't get dressed up, wear your everyday clothes (no make up), if you need to get up & move about cos you've been sitting too long make sure you do. You will be asked what TV programmes you watch & they'll use it to assume you can sit that long at a desk so if you can normally only watch TV in bed make sure they know that.
