I have FM & suffer the usual pains but lately I have pain in my right shoulder & down into my upper arm. Does anyone else suffer this?

hi there, yes i suffer pain in my shoulder blades and it does go down my arm, i do have osteoarthritis too so it could be that as well, but yes shoulder pain is very commom in fibro, x

Thank you, like everyone on here i am used to hurting in strange places but this is a new one. Not so much my shoulder blade as right on the top almost in the shoulder joint itself. Another to add to the list lol x

Yes i get this quite a lot, i usualy have a hot bath or just try putting heat pads onto it for some time.

i also suffer this but the pain is also in my neck. i do have osteoarthritis and i do have wear in the discs which showed on x ray but i also have fibro. i have tried heat pads/hot water bottle and adjusting my neck height in bed - i get a little relief but it has been constant now for 8 - 10 weeks x

Thanks both of you, sounds like its something i will have to learn to live with, have tried various things to ease it but nothing works so far. Heat pads next lol x

Hey! The majority of my pain is my whole back, neck & shoulders which is constant abd has started moving down my arms the last few weeks. I use head packs or a wheat bag that heats up in the microwave, thats good for wrapping around. I also bought an inflatable blath pillow which is great & I have a hot blanket on my bed too .. Hope this helps!

I get this too, my dr has put it down to muscle spasm caused by stress (at work). I take diazepam am and pm and I'm signed off work with it at the moment.

I too have shoulder pain n it hurts so bad some time .....I could scream .....I've recovered frm a bad flare up probably my worst yet .feel quite normal 2 day.....but this is only achieved because 2 weekends running I have been at home sleeping resting....2 b able 2 work during the week.isn't life fun .....

Ahh bless you I too have pain in my shoulder and upper arm most of the time and also in my breast bone Fibro has a lot to answer for I have osteoathritis also so that wont help .The only thing that helps is heat and try to rest your arm .

I've been suffering from severe pain In the top

Of my left arm for the last 3 months .

As soon has I put my arm down to hang loose

The pain I've been experiencing as brought me

Too tears , I tried explaining the pain to my Gp

And the only way I could describe it was the pain

You used to get when we was kids after being given a dead

Arm of each other but at least 100% worse

Nothing seems to be easing it , tried alsorts . Gp sent me

For a MRI scan because I was also getting pins and

Needles , results came back that I've now also got

Along side the fibromyalgia a bulging disc in my

Neck that's irritating the nerves ! I swear to god some nights

I could quite happily chop my arm off just to get

Some relieve from the pain it's that bad :0(

Referred to the pain clinic but the waiting list

Is 12 wks unless I'm able too go and pay private then

I would be seen in a matter of days ! It's so unfair

I started suffering from pain in my right shoulder and upper arm last year. GP thought it was a frozen shoulder and administered a steroid injection which was no help. I am now getting the same pain in my left shoulder. I cannot lift my arms above shoulder level. When I forget myself I reach out for something and this causes the pain to make me yell out. It was bad enough in one arm but now to have it in both is really getting me down. Last Friday the pain was so bad I felt there was no use going on. I went to the GP and they upped my amytriptyline from the low dose to the 25mg. I have been told to try one a night for a few nights, then 2 a night if that doesn't help and then upping it to 3. At least my new doctor is suggesting something that might help. My last doctor just wanted to bump my painkillers up !

I really was low on Friday, very tearful and feeling very sorry for myself. Friday evening we went out and bought a puppy, she is tiny and needs me. This took my mind off my pain all weekend (not that the pain has gone). Perhaps having this new life to look after will at least give me something to get up for each day. She is currently snuggled under my fleece jacket and it feels wonderful.

yes i get pain thats worse in my right arm as im right handed,its a heavy ache more than a pain but still very painful if that makes sense!im not very good at explaining things lol.

it goes from shoulder down the whole arm including hands even texting hurts at one point a couple of yrs ago it was so bad that i couldnt use it at all my gp put it down to tendonitis maybe it was fibro as i wasn't diagnosed til this year after having bad back, leg& feet pain for years.i find now it gets worse in the cold & damp weather.
