just dont expect to much and no miracle cures. i got asked a lot of questions about my pain and asked to move in various ways to see how much movement i had. i was then given a prescription and referred to the pain clinic. that was about 9 years ago so maybe things have changed. i hope you have better luck than me but dont worry you will be fine.
Hi there Molko. As Rainy says above you will be asked a lot of questions about your medical history, when you first started experiencing your symptoms, blood and urine tests, blood pressure. Also reviewing your medications, discussing your work etc.
You will also have a full examination, the tender point examination - please click on the link which will take you to our main site for more info on this -

You may also have XRays or a scan. It tends to vary between Consultants. Not all Rheumatology appointments are the same.
For personal experiences from other members with their Rheumatology experiences, please click on the link below, it will take you to many threads about appointments, results, treatment etc. Hope this helps! -

Thanks guys...tis v helpful x
It's a pleasure, best of luck xx
I saw a physio on my first visit, and ended up in tears, it seems like nobody believed me, I rang to say I will not see physio again and saw a doctor who knew all about fibro and so i was diagnosed, so don't expect to much yet, good luck
It's not unusual to feel upset Brown, these sort of appointments at the beginning
makes us feel vulnerable and then to feel that we aren't being believed makes us teary. I was the same. I haven't heard of anyone seeing a Physio on their first visit before.
Stick with it folks, it does get easier. I ended up with a brilliant Consultant Rheumatologist after changing from the first one who didn't listen to me at all. It can take time to get somewhere unfortunately and in the mean time we can feel like guinea pigs trying all different sorts of meds, it's all part of the process.
I waited 21 MONTHS for my appointment, she did a quick question of the drugs i was on, and a tender points test and said yup you have fibro, left the office pleased I had an official diagnosis, but spent 3 days in extreme pain after she touched all of my tender points 16 out of 18.
Dnt think she did tender point test...i got weighed..im at my
HeViest...no surprise tho cos ive not bin able to.move.lots
In last few years...my weight got blamed a lot...dnt fl much more
Positive really x
I think more often than not the tender point test is carried out as this gives more of an indication as to whether we have Fibromyalgia or not. That might happen at your next appointment.
It isn't unusual to put on weight Molko, it can be a combination of lack of activity compared to our lives before Fibro and also side effects from the medications we take.
Im.not gettin another app...x
Why is that Molko, did they explain?! What treatment if any was offered to you, or what meds etc?!
Nothin...they took loads of blood tho x
I expect they will call you back to discuss the blood test results Molko. Hope it goes well for you.
