I got an esa letter today telling me that the money they pay me has changed. my heart sank. then I saw the magic words

"because you are in the support group"

the relief is huge!

I had put in an appeal and heard nothing.

I'm waiting for a letter to tell me more.

regards,

sandra.

sorry Belinda for not replying, not been on the computer.

sandra.

Hello Belinda, the discussion is about ESA (Employment and Support Allowance benefit), there are two groups within ESA - the Support Group which is what Sandra mentioned and also the WRAG - Work-Related Activity Group.

A brief summary of both groups -

To be awarded Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) and placed in the Work-Related Activity Group, you need to show that you score at least 15 points in the limited capability for work assessment.

Alternatively, you may be exempt from the assessment or covered by the exceptional circumstances rules. The test for getting into the support group is an additional one which does not involve scoring points.

If you would like us to send you the Benefits and Work info sheets on ESA and DLA for free, please email info@fibroaction.org and we will be happy to send them to you.

I hope this helps. :)
