If you are hoping for your GP to pay towards private gym in theory they might. In practise you don't stand much of a chance. They are supposed to pay the fees for Slimming World or Weight Watchers for the morbidly obese ... but in practise they just fob you off by denying they have any funds.

There is no harm asking - but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Our Gp can send us to gym or swimming locally on prescription so I'v heard and our local pool say we can have 12 week course through gps. You pay a lower price than other people not sure how it works...........xx

Our local pool heats the water one day a week and I have a GP referral card that lets me use the pool during these sessions. Trouble is I am too busy to find the time on a Thursday to use it!

There is an Exercise Referral Scheme through PCT in my area with concessions in the local Leisure Centre.
