How do you get a GP not to blame everything on Fibro?

By asking them what it could be if you hadn't got Fibro? You are right not everything is Fibro related. I find taking someone with me to be the stroppy one insisting on investigations, refferals etc is very much more effective than me and my brain fog.

Good question, after god knows how many years im till wanting the answer to that one. Suppose look for another Doc.

By insisting , he/she may have been to medical school but nobody knows your body better than you and if you really have then see a different doctor. I can be a stubborn person when it comes to doctors. They are their to service you your taxes pay them.

I agree with Julieevh- I will try that next time!!!

I have a lump under my left armpit about the size of an egg. First doctor sent me the breast clinic where they gave me the all clear with checking by hand. Wasn't offered a scan or mammogram, which, seeing as I have been on HRT since I was 28 I thought they would. The last doctor I saw said she had no idea and to come back and see a different doctor!

Am taking my Carer who is very good at standing his ground and reminding me of things.

Thanks for the replies. Will let you know how I get on tomorrow xxx

keep at it .. find one who understands or get ready to be stroppy ...

saddly it happens a lot my favourit saying is

if i had a bone sticking out of my leg the doctor would say oh its just your fms ..

You will find strenth and support here and good luck with the gp

Sometimes it takes a few attempts to make ourselves heard, we have to change GP's etc. I even had to change my Consultant Rheumatologist because he didn't believe Fibromyalgia even existed! I now have a lovely Rheumatologist who diagnosed me, got my meds right so I can manage my pain and fatigue etc.

It is possible to get it right but sometimes it takes more pushing which is really difficult when we're in pain and exhausted.

Wishing you all the best Bobbsta!

Not being funny but i had been going to the doctor with ref.. to a really painful neck mumb left arm... he kept saying it was the fybro... I went to visit my partner in france and he ended up taking me to the hospital due to the pain... I had an MRI scan and then had surgery within two week due two herniated cervical discs severly pressing on my spinal cord... I now have two titanium discs.. i have movement and the numbness has gone... Now the pain i get in my neck is only due to the fybro... My english doctor was utterly shocked and said that he would not blame everything on my frbo and i hasd a letter of appology.... so i say bully them and they try to bully you... Good luck and gentle Hugs x
