Hi all. Bit of a sesitive and embarrising one. Anyone else occ wet themselves?
Im mortified this morning. Just hspp to turn over in bed as was in so much pain, and wet myself it was like a flood!! Soaked my pjs, bit on floor and my side of bed! Could of died. It has hpp a couple of times bt cant say i felt desp for the loo! Omg gd strt to dy

Don't feel bad, these things happen. What meds are you on? Amitripyline is also used to help stop bedwetting. A high dose will not only help block nerve ending pain associated with fibro it will also do the same to your bladder. I take gagbapentin and citalopram which both work the same way. Your bladder is designed to empty Automatically when it gets too full which is why you had pain. Meds coupled with you being in a deep sleep is the most likely cause. Try and make sure you squeeze as much wee out when you go to bed and try not to drink too much at bed time. It has happened to me too, so please don't feel too bad.

I'm at the hospital tomorrow for similar problems . I've had to keep an input and output chart for the last 3 days and also mark down any " accidents " .
It's been great fun trying to pee into a jug so I can measure it !
What it has shown though is a pattern so that will help them work out what's wrong I hope.
If it's a one off I'd say don't worry too much but if it becomes a regular occurrence then maybe a word with your GP ?

Hi Helen ive had this problem for many years, and iam only 44 ;( . In november i was in hospital to have the tape inserted ( second time aarrgg ), but the last couple of months its come back with a vengence and this was before i was told i had fibro.
I have read somewhere that fibro causes a weak bladder too so iam back to square 1 and the tests you have to go through are so degrading but still carry on with hospital, i have my annual appointment in November and will be telling them i want the operation again x

I have bladder problems, it is totally embaressing but you learn to live with it! I don't seem to realise I need to go until the very last moment and then I can't hold it, sometimes I have no feeling at all and it just comes out of it's own accord. Luckily it's usually just a bit because as soon as I realise what's happening I can usually stop it. My GP recommended pelvic floor excercises but I don't think they are doing anything. 41 & needing incontinence pads, oh well!

Yes i have them too been going on a while bit more cough sneeze a run down my leg! Started quite a time a go,
After my sinus trouble in feb and the facial trouble tmj
I was on sofa one night , got up and was wet through!! Never felt a thing.
No warmth no nothing as if numb . My hubby was sat beside me and i felt so embarrased!!
I have odd issues but wearing a pad incase does help.
Tell Dr though as they will ask how many times and to keep an eye on it.

I can relate to this too but I thought it just came with old age ( I'm only 59 but sometimes feel a lot older )
Luckily I can control it now but when it started happening I was mortified.
I try not to drink too much tea or coffee after midday and have de-caffinated if I fancy one any later. I wear panty liners for those little leaks I can't help and I sit and squeeze out every drop of my bedtime wee .
I haven't suffered from this for a while so may have learned how to control it ( or could I be getting better? )
We have facilities for a small downstairs loo which is our tiny washer / dryer / cloakroom room and I keep asking my partner if he could convert it back to a toilet, with no success. He's younger than me and doesn't seem to get it.
I may have to just keep a bucket in there for those unexpected accidents!

Hi cherie yes this happens to me alot went to the dr she said oh thats your fibro cant do anything about that
ask to get referred to gyny / urogynology, there are exercises and lots of totally undignified tests to do but worth it! After i had my hysterectomy my bladder issues have gone!

Hi I have this problem have had loads of tests and showed nothing have been given tablets fiest lot had to many side effects but now on Trospium Chloride which help but had to stop the last few days as I went into retension during the day and wet at night. Hope you get sorted Sue x
I can't hold back on bowel movements. I suddenly need to go and if I can't move quick enough accidents happen.

Hi I have the problem that I feel I need to go by the time I get to the loo I am trickling down my leg.........then I have to sit on the loo for ages just waiting for gravity as I have lost my water pressure...have no feeling of a full bladder till it is really full.I then am in trouble because of my fibro I cant wash myself and cant have a shower evertime I pee myself,gonna have to get tenner ladies I think,but as its not always happening seems a waste ......I also find if I cry and get upset I have choking fits and enevitably pee myself ,which just makes me cry more= more pee!!! cant win eh!!!
I am glad we have the chance to speak of these things on here as my family are un-aprouchable and my daughter would prob laugh and tell all her friends " Oh mum has had another tennerlady moment ha ha "....dont think she knows how that hurts as it is so personal.

i had a tenna pad on was in a hotel got up this morning and oops evreywhere and it smells lol i have to laugh at it but its commonxxx
There does seem to be a link between bladder problems and Fibro sufferers as it affects the nerves and muscles. Sometimes doing pelvic floor exercises can help, but that isn't necessarily easy when you're in pain anyway.

I must be the only male on this planet that also shares this problem, I have had Fibro for 8 years, I suffer from more or less everything that comes with this debilitating illness especially bowel and bladder problems, a sneeze and I can be wet especially when I am outdoors. I dont wear pads because I am embarrassed so I try and stifle a sneeze and a cough but I have wet the bed on lots of occasions, not a bladder full but a small amount because I wake up almost immediately It feels like I am dreaming of wee-ing in a toilet and then I feel the warmth and somehow my brain tells me to get up quickly, its the only time my brain does this because the rest of the time I am like the tin man on the wizard of oz that needs his joints oiling as my joints are stiff and I am in awful pain anyway some people blame medication and some blame Fibro. I have been on all the medication available to our Doctors in the last 8 years and nothing has solved this bladder/bowel problem yet.

I started taking baclofen muscle relaxant 20mg a day & started having more frequent "accidents". I could just about hold it til I got in the loo, but started leaking whilst trying to get my trousers & knickers down, much worse than normal! I looked on the leaflet & one side effect was loss of bladder control, so I've stopped taking them.
I wear panty liners round the house, & tena ladies whilst out just to be sure!
Hi, I have this problem, made worse due to been on water tablets for high blood pressure. I get the sudden urge, and then at times don't get there in time. I use tena ladies regularly at least you can change those easier than your knickers. So far, touch wood, I've not had an accident at night, but a good few during the day. I do think my problem has become worse in the last few years, but I had a hysterectomy in 1997, and there are supposed to be changes which affect your bladder from that. I do pelvic floor exercises, but I'm afraid once it starts I cannot stop it these days. I'm 55 btw.
Yes, I have that problem too hun, very distressing....having to use my daughters old wet sheet from potty training days ??......just in case of lil accident!! Seeing an incontinence nurse for this issue. Although its a sensitive issue it feels reassuring that it's not just me....not meaning to be rude.

Just found this thread, and reading these postings have made me feel so much better as I am going through the same thing. The moment I feel like I need to wee, then I am in trouble. I cannot move quickly enough due to the pain in my legs, knee & back and have had bowel accidents due to IBS. I am so concerned I am going to end up breaking my toilet as normally I ease myself down but when I am trying to avoid wetting myself, by the time I get my pants down I just sort of flop down on the seat. I had a Hysterectomy in 2006 and never had any problems. This has been going on for about a year. During the day I change my clothing 2-3 times during the day, and again sometimes during the night (I take Amiytiptiline). I have not mentioned it to GP, as I didn't think it had anything to do with fibro, and to be totally honest I am getting so tired of telling him about new symptoms. I have 3 toilets in my house, 2 upstairs and 1 down, but I still have accidents. I am lucky that I work from home, and I only go out to the doctors now, unless my hubby or daughter is with me.
I have wee myself , don't even feel like I need toilet then all of sudden , it just drips out!!! Then I rush to toliet!!! You need to get your wee tested incase u have uti.
