New to this site, so, Hi everyone,

This has been going on for years. There are times when its bearable, then others when its not. It goes on all day, jumping all around my body. roughly 20 in a minute, sometimes. Then to make things worse i've started jerking too. You know the feeling when you are about to fall asleep then you jump, well its like that but when i'm awake. Does anyone else get this and how did you overcome it.... thanks

Hello and welcome Dasara! :)

I can certainly relate to the muscle twitching and jumping. This is quite common with Fibromyalgia unfortunately.

These symptoms are mentioned in the following link -

fibroaction.org/Pages/What-...

I went to see my Consultant about the shooting pains, jerks and muscle twitches and I was prescribed Methocarbamol. It is a muscle relaxant and works by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) that are sent to your brain. It is also used to treat skeletal muscle conditions such as pain or injury. I take two 750mg tablets only when the pain is too bad to cope with. It usually makes the pains subside in approximately one hour.

Here is some info on Methocarbamol -

Hi Libbyde,

Thanks for the info. I have only recently been diagnosed with fibro (although a dr mentioned years ago i might have it). The rheumotologist examined me and said that it was fibro and that she would send out some info, still waiting. This is driving me crazy though. I have an appointment with my G.P. next week so i will def ask about Methocarbamol. Thanks so much for the help. xx

Hi LibbyDe,

am also on Methocarbamol, wouldn't be with out it. it works quite quickly and very well for me... thankfully.

I'm surprised by how many people suffer twitches and jumps and didn't realise it was fibro associated, but now realise it makes sense. Don't think my doc is aware either, went to one a while before fibro was diagnosed and he just said i'd got to live with it basically...well thanks for that one then.!!! As soon as i mentioned it to the doc who diagnosed fibro she gave me these meds although didn't say it was associated. In fact all she has done is diagnose me and give me info to read...hmmmm

Take care

Jan xx

Yes Jan I wouldn't be without my Methocarbamol either. It's my lifesaver! I have tried everything else over the years and thankfully this is the only med that stops my legs when they are agonising. :)

Yes! I get this too. My leg muscles twitch when I have done a bit of walking, the twitching can lead to a full blown cramp. I also get the twitching in my eye, you know the one that people say you cant see? well you can see mine lol x

Hi Nanatre,

It seems to be quite common, although i hadnt heard that until today. My twitching happens all day long, along with that i get these jerky movements. It happens when i'm just sitting, I don't need to do anything. Were you ever given anything from your G.P for it.xxxx

Hi dasara, welcome to our friendly family!!!

I to get this spasms and jerks, first of all I used to get them when I was going to sleep, but like you I now get them during the day as well. They are so annoying, I've sent the coffee granuals all over the work top, knocked drinks over etc. Quite often they are acompanied by an F word!!! lol

The only time that they seem to subside is when I have an alcoholic drink, my partner thinks that this is because alcohol is a relaxant. Problem with that is could end up with a serious drink problem lol!!!

gentle fibro hugs xx
