Has anyone tried Coconut Oil for fibro? [link removed by Admin]
As far as I am aware, there is no evidence that coconut oil can benefit Fibro. I had a look at the link you posted before removing it just in case and the information about Fibro on there was very dubious.
Looking on PubMed, the medical database, I did find one study which had showed that coconut oil had anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive effects (it reduced sensitivity to painful stimuli). So there is a theoretical benefit, but this was a small laboratory study rather than looking at whether the oil really helped people in pain.
Ok thanks for that.
It's a great pity that you don't allow the question to be voiced. It is quite clear there are many healing modalities which work without having to have 'evidence'. I always come from the premise that if a thought, an action, a way of doing or being holds an answer which is helpful, then that is evidence enough. I have to roll out the old cliche here.... I can't see the wind but i know it exists because it causes things to move.
Science does not have and will never have all the answers. One *could* go so far as to say, What science claims is truth today is frequently retracted two days later.
I personally can't use coconut oil as it makes my skin itch and I don't like the smell particularly. I prefer to use Vitamin E cream or E45 Excessive Moisture cream which is very soothing.
HI, Devavoce you have asked the question. What you've asked is if anybody else has tried it and I'm sure you'll get a response to this from other forum members.
I am interested in any possible new ideas - like most of us, I've tried most things to help with pain and fatigue. However the forum guidelines do mean say that we are asked not to post links to outside sites unless they are well documented (there's lots of evidence that they work).
Please don't be disheartened because the actual link has been removed. Your question is clear enough and if anybody has had a positive personal experience of using coconut oil, I'm sure they will get in touch with you. As I understand the rules, if anybody does want the link from you they can send you a personal message and you can send it to them, just not post it on the forum.
I hope this hasn't put you off. Most of us are very positive about many complementary/alternative therapies but we all have to follow these rules.

Thank s Whppet_lover, that's encouraging. I'm new to this site and just feeling my way. Thanks for your reply.

I believe there is room for all, it's why I prefer the term 'complimentary' to 'alternative', and each to their own. I use coconut food products when grain free, it's certainly great stuff for me, but I use casto oil packs on pain. I also use herbs under the guidance of a hebalist, aromatherapy, meditation, all sorts of things, including prescription drugs from my GP. I come here for many reasons too, not least because of the great advice here, there is always something new to learn!
