Has anyone else had years of no diagnosis with people mentioning fibromyalgia in passing?

I have had symptoms for years with no diagnosis, then I was diagnosed with Fybro but my consultant is still not sure because of raised inflamatory markers in my blood test so she wants to see me again. So although I have a diagnosis I am still uncertain it is the right diagnosis ;-( good luck in getting the right diagnosis

had symptoms of fibro for 30yrs, the last 3 yrs its been very bad, but only diagnosed a few months ago

i have suffered 55 years with fybro and getting worse with my ostoarthrtis , just had hip replacement waiting for the other hip i waited 11 years for first one hope i dont have to wait that long for my second hip doing , along with the fybro [ i am blessed ; any how think positive we are alive that is all that counts

Same here , been ill on and off most of my life with nobody seeming to be able to pin point a cause. I do have a dx of Fibro and Sjogrens , along with IBS and depression and agoraphobia , but I do sometimes wonder if something else is going on that would encompass all of these different problems .

I saw a Dr in the Pain Management Clinic in Sheffield in 2004 after acute pain in my upper left arm and being passed from pillar to post, he diagnosed fibrositus and put me on an increased dose of Gabapentin until I got to the dosage I tolerated best. Eventually that seemed to clear up and I came off the Gabapentin and then six years later it raised its ugly head again and my Gp refere me straight to a Rhematolgist.

i think i have had it since child hood but was always told to stop moaning so started thinking it was in my head, then when i had my son nearly 3 years ago my symptons got extremely worse while having a planned c-section thaey were burning my tubes at same time well just after them lifting him up to me the anastetic wore of and i screamed so loud it felt like my insides were being pulled out. i think the truama of that made my symptoms get worse and i was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia, also have restless leg syndrome, sciatica, crumbling discs and gaps in both knees whatever that one means as some people tell me thats athritus but doc said gaps in knees. xx

Yes. Think I've had it since the birth of my 2nd child 11 years ago although still not been formally diagnosed. Been told I should expect to be tired due to having 2 kids and working full time, but then started getting aches and pains. When discussing with the Dr in 2009 about tiredness and pain and mood swings, she wanted to refer me for depression counselling. I said I didn't believe I was depressed and it was some months later when I went to a different dr with sore neck and as if my head was too heavy that Fybro was mentioned (as well as tiredness he asked if I had a tender scalp which I'd had for some years). Was referred to Rheumy but nothing came out of that. Since then I've developed many other symptoms, nerve issues, muscle spasms, muscle weakness, sinusitis, espiscleritis, pins and needles in hands feet, cold feet, hands and nose at times, temperature surges, extreme fatigue, brain fog, painful joints, memory issues, poor concentration, bladder pain, tender skin, shivers etc etc... I'm not sure what I need to do to get a formal diagnosis? as I feel I now try to avoid going to the Dr.
