redundancy and benefits

deso any one know if i can claim benefits after being made redundant or do i have to sign on first

I was made redundant last year and had to go and sign on. But once I told them I had been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia they said I was unfit for work and put me straight onto ESA. I just had to get a sick note form my Dr. monthly. I did get another job within 4 months, but was then phoned 3 months later and told I had an appointment for my ESA medical! (Left and right hand again!). I think you have to go to the Employment place, whatever it is called these days and hopefully they will point you in the right direction, but you definately can claim for ESA or job seekers and also if you qualify you can claim for housing benefit etc.I must say I was treated very well by my local office and was given every help to claim all I was entitled to. I do feel quite worrid when I read others bloggs on here as they seem to have a quite different experience. Which is why, altho' struggling to work I am to scared to stop!! Best wishes Sue.

Thanyou for the advice - have had to accept voluntary redundancy from the nhs because of my fibro etc. So upsetting knew it would happen one day cause my heath has been so bad but its hasd to accept that mt career is over atfifty cause I can't walk without excuciating pain but thanku feel more confident. .ust admit that the negative stories people suffer deos scare u x x x
