Anyone else who is a teacher with fibromyalgia?
Hi Juliettsmile. I am also a teacher, I have had this awful thing for 6 years, aslo AS which has made my job very diffcult, as if we need that too!. I have spoken often with my GP, whom I might add is wonderful, to change my medication so that I can at least remember what I am supposed to me teaching! I now take my strong medication as soon as I get home. However, for the past 3 months I have been so ill that I am not at work at the moment. So lucky that the term ends soon and I can get the rest I really need. At the moment I just cannot get out of bed, there are a ew days that I feel good, but the majority are very bad now. I am now having Hydothearpy and pain clinic.on top of all the meds. I have been to see th occupational T from work who has advised me to apply for DLA ( which has been refused) and a blue badge which I am waiting for. He also suggested that I give up work. Unfortunately, I cannot finacially givbe up work and if I'm truthful I don't want to, I love my job, I love the students. I don't know what I would do if my College decides it time for me to go. They are at the moment restructuring which leaves me to beileive that I will be one of the first to be made redundant. The only thing I have in my favour is that they employed me under the DDA 13 years ago, so maybe, just maybe I will be safe. I understand how all teachers with this horrible attached leach FMS, it makes you feel like you are pulling their legs, because they cannot see any outward signs. I have to use my stick at work at all times, otherwise they would never, ever believe me.
Good luck and gentle hugs

I know this is an old question but I am a teacher who is really struggling at the moment. I would love to talk to others in the same position. Alison x
