I seem to spend most of my time bending down to pick things up I've dropped Sandy . I've no strength left in my hands or wrists these days and as far as I know it is part of Fibro .

If in doubt check with your GP though.

I have had this problem for years, it got blammed on my carpol tunnel but i have had the operation and its still no better, so it must be a fibro thing., hugs, kel xxxx

I don't think a day goes by without me dropping something through poor grip or just being clumsy. Sometimes it feels like I drop everything. I bought myself a "grabber", one of those long handled open and close claw gadgets, it's been invaluable to me picking things up from the floor or behind sofas etc. Also for opening jars or bottles, a grip rubber is brilliant! It's just a circle of rubber that I put in the palm of my hand and then round the jar or bottle to be opened, it opens everything straight away! Using these aids/gadgets can really make life easier opening things or picking things up. They don't cost a lot either. :)

Loose grip and dropping things can be related to Fibro, but it's always best to get this checked out with your GP just to make sure. :)

I got myself a Richard ( fiancé ) Libby :) He's now in full charge of opening, peeling AND picking things up for me . He's so handy I wonder why I didn't get myself one years ago he he he :)

Hi sandy,

Like the other posts I too have this problem I cannot peel veg, open tin cans, even ring pulls I struggle with. When I was working it was terrible and i was diagnosed as having carpal tunnel syndrome, so I had the surgery which seemed to make things easier but after being diagnosed with fibro I am back to square one!!

I spend most of my time dropping things grip is terrible and frankly dangerous with a cup of tea!

seriously tho its not funny and very frustrating at times, used to do aa lot of painting for a hobby but cant do that now :-(

It is possible to buy ergonomic can openers, peelers, and aids for ring pulls too. The handles are specially designed for people with arthritis, carpel tunnel, poor grip etc. The handles are comfy and specially moulded for grip. Of course all these things cost money, I am trying to buy one little gadget at a time, they really make these difficult jobs so much easier and more comfortable too. :)

hi yes i have def lost my grip i have carpal tunnel and i wear splints on my wrists with a metal bar down the centre and they help a bit but not much i have lost alot of my grip and struggle to open jars and stuff and pull off the foil tops they put on milk i bought a thing off e bay it is to help open things it i sort of number 8 shape was about £3 i think so that helps and yes i do drop things love to you diddle x

Yes, I lose grip and drop things all the time.In the last week I have dropped a chicken taking it out of the oven and a glass storage jar just slipped out of my hand.I can't open milk cartons unless its not tight, tin openers and even holding the newspaper for too long:((

I think, for me that all the other things that come with having Fibro, the worst for me is my wrist-especially my dominant right hand.It effects everything I do;(

i keep droping things and im clumsy i droped a ketle a month ago scolded my leg my hubby brought me a apliance that you press a button and u get cup boiling water

Yes me as we'll.

Especially first thing when I get up.

And the first thing I do after making a cuppa, is put my make-up on.

Because my philophsy is I might feel shit but I don't have to look it!!

But I digress I will drop the hand mirror at least twice and my hairbrush even more.

I also have probs opening jars and bottles.

Anything heavy I will struggle to hold.

Damn nuisance really.

Hope this helps to set your mind at rest because it is all part of fibro.

But if you are worrying about it, let your doc check it out.

Best wishes Bibi x
