Yea, I'm 19 and I was diagnosed with it back in February. I've had it since I was about 8 years old, and my symptoms are quite extensive. I hope you find a proper treatment plan!! I want ya to know you aren't alone in this. *Gentle Hugs*
Hey,
Thanks for commenting! I honestly felt like the only person that felt like this when they first diagnosed it because they never really gave me much if any information, just referred me to the pain clinic which took months! But on the bright side they have suggested some things to try so will see what happens
Glad that I've found this website, seems really helpful, wish I had found it earlier!
xx
hi hun yes i did the 8 week course at the hospital and there was so many young people on it ,its getting more common i think in younger people ,im so sorry to hear u have FM and yr so young try n keep positive ,there is lots of support on this sight xxx
Thanks .. Glad I've found somewhere to chat especially with other people who have fibromyalgia too, never even knew what it was until they diagnosed it .. Thought I had tried lots of things like chiropractor, physio, massage, tens, medication & more medication, and had steroid injections in January at the pain clinic, waiting to see if it has helped but nothing so far!
Seems like there is still some more things to try! Have you's found anything really good? xx
hi i am bit older than you 46 but i do eel for you as my daughters are 25 and 19 i would hate for them to get this at that age i know i am still bit youngish (no comments lol) but least i had 20 years on them bless you there are some really young people on here i was talking to a 17 old the other day on here so hopefully they will get back to you love diddle x
Hi Charlie
So sorry to hear you have FM. On the good side at least you have had a diagnosis. I had the symptons since I was 20, real bad flare ups from 22 (lot of major stress factors when i was that age.) but it took them until 2 years ago to actually find a diagnosis and treat me for it. In the meantime i had over 20plus years of investigative surgery, treatments etc, made to feel like i was going crazy or a hypochondriac.
There are lots n lots different treatments, you nowhave to find what suits you best. But one thing I will say (im still learning) pace yourself, dont ever overdo anything as your body will let you know in the worst way.
Hoping you find some relief. Its a great site to have joined.
Gentle hugs to you hun.
xx
Hello,
Yeah I'm glad they've found a diagnosis instead of just turning up at the doctors every week in pain! I've been looking into some other options, hate taking painkillers everyday but sometimes have no choice.
I've been on solpadol, amitriptyline & dihydrocodeine for so long now that they don't have much affect anymore. They were wary about putting me on anything strong because I'm still at uni and have my finals in May!
I have that problem too with pacing myself, always seem to do too much and then I'm suffering for days after!
Speak soon xx
Hi Charlie
Welcome to this great group - sorry you had to have fibro to join us though.
There are quite a few 'young uns' here, I really feel for you, having this at such a young age.
Have a good look at the FibroAction website, it's to the right of the homepage, there is so much info there. Also, if you click on Directory, on the blue line at the top of the page, and then 'find people near you', it will show you who, if anyone, lives near you in the group.
Have a good day if you can...........
Hugs Sue xxxx
Thank you!
Slowly coming to terms with it, had no idea where to even start looking about treatments, the hospital just referred me to the pain clinic but took so long!
I've been having a look around, everyone seems friendly and have loads of ideas that I'm gonna look into
Had a okay day, just busy studying! Hope your day was good!

Hi charlie,
I was 24 when i got fibro, but not diagnosed until 29, i am 31 now and i like to think i am young lol.
I had three children when things started getting bad and i have other things too.
Like you i had never heard of it before, but with a few lifestyle changes, the right meds and lots and lots of pacing you can get through it.
It is so hard at first but you have us to help you now, everyone here is lovely.
Mine started with sore neck first too and the docs put it down to stress, yeah right.
Chat soon , its lovely to meet you.
hugs, kel xxxx
Hi charlie, although im now 45 I was 1st diagnosed when I was 25 and thought this cant b happening Im 2 young. I have daughters now aged 26, 25 and 21 and every time I hear them complain with shoulder and neck pain I pray its not the start of this terrible illness. Its hard 2 cope with at any age but do think it affects u much more when ur younger especially when all ur mates want 2 maybe party all wk end and only thing u want 2 do is sleep. Mine started through stress when my marriage started 2 fall apart but hopefully ul get it under some kind of control. Best wishes 4 graduating in July and soft hugs 2 u all xx
Hi Charlie
Although I only got a formal diagnosis of CFS when I was in my forties, I believe I have had it since I was a child. I had a lot of unexplained pain in my childhood and slept badly. I was always tired and had very poor concentration and short-term memory. For many years it went into remission but first came back withe a vengeances when I was in my 30s.
You have your diagnosis at a time when Fibro/CFS are taken much more seriously. I wish you the very best and remember it can go into remission for year at a time!
This is a great resource - I only found it today and posted a stupidly long blog because I needed to say all the stuff that goes on in my head to people who understand.
I hope we hear from you again.
Whippet x
Hey Whippet,
Yeah that's how I feel too, just constant pain and never seem to sleep, and when I do I wake up feeling more tired haha .. Yeah this is a great website, looking forward to getting to know some other people with fibro too!
Hope your having a good day! x
I am only 22 years old myself. I am not 100% sure if I have fibromyalgia but I do know that I'm constantly sore. My neck, back, shoulders, knees, and everything else always hurts me. I'm always cracking my knuckles and such I'm not sure if that means anything at all. It's every single day though I also have constant headaches. I'm not sure what to do about it. I don't even have a primary doctor. But anyway, based on what you said it sounds similar my aunt Linda had fibromyalgia and it's a pain in the buttox that's for sure. I hope you feel better soon though.
Hello Kelster462,
How are you today? This is one of my old posts (4 years old), I'm now 26! I started out like you, with pains around my body, especially in my neck, back and shoulders. I was very active with Dancing and Cheerleading, so I thought it was a pulled muscle, until it gradually got worse and worse, then I knew it was something else!
You said you don't have a Primary Doctor, but do you take any medication? Over the counter? There is evidence to suggest that Fibromyalgia can be hereditary, but it's not 100%, research suggests that there are other factors that contribute to it.
I now take a handful of medication to try and manage my symptoms, including - muscle relaxants, pain relief, anti depressant and anti epileptic drug (used for nerve pain). There's ally of choices regarding pain management. I also attend the pain clinic, who also offers alternative treatments.
I would suggest getting a Doctor that you can go and see, with a list of your symptoms. And I would ask for a referral to Rheumatology, who will be able to diagnosis Fibromyalgia & exclude other illnesses/diseases. If you find that your Doctor is not understanding and doesn't take your symptoms seriously, I would ask for a second opinion. As some Doctors are a little skeptical about Fibromyalgia and wether it exists or not ... And you need not to waste your time with them.
Please feel free to send me a private message, or I can send you my Facebook link, which might make it easier to chat.
Hope you have s good weekend 😊
