just letting you all know i went to the ESA assessment interview today,as someone who suffers from agoraphobia and fibro i had to have help to get there,i was fortunate to have an understanding lady who told me they don't want to push me into work but to find out "how i am", and if i would like to become part of a workshop doing different things i.e...painting,gardening etc, well i'll keep you posted as i don't know yet,but i know i need something, feel like im losing it half the time,i feel useless most days, ESA say they'll call me in a couple of months to see "how i'm doing"...i don't think they really understand that fibro isn't going to go away,we're stuck with it!!....got to keep our heads up eh?
take it easy

Hiya Betty, this sounds like a positive meeting you had. It would probably be quite nice to go out and do something if you feel up to it, I can understand how you feel when you say you feel useless. It is difficult to adjust to living with fibro especially when you have been used to leading a busy lifestyle. I think there are times when we all feel as though we cannot go out on our own. I used to be much more outgoing than I am now, I am only comfortable with going to places I am very familiar with otherwise I panic.
The problem with fibro is that you never know when it is going to flare up and to be forced to go out every day and do something is very daunting. But who do they think will take us on on the basis that we go to work when we feel able to?? Still, I suppose they have a job to do and have to be seen to be getting results.
you sound so posotive like you really had a good meeting and they treated youwith care and respect and jus gave you few options but were not pushy , thats great news now you can have a think about what you want to do love to you diddle x
Hi Betty, Your'e in my neck of the woods I think.
Well done you for getting to the ESA meeting. Sounds like it was an interesting meeting anyway.
None of us are useless. When we're having a bad time we may feel like that but we must tell ourselves we are not. That feeling will pass. As you say, got to keep our heads up.
Hear, hear, Sue and Christine. We must try and not let feelings of "uselessness" overwhelm us and just wait for them to pass.
Betty, huge hugs to you for making it to the assessment in the first place. You should feel proud of yourself. Am glad they treated you sympathetically. If you could try and make it to the suggested sessions, it would probably do you good, but don't rush into any decisions just yet. Take heart from dealing with your challenge so well.
I got my phone call today saying I failed the ESA test so according to them I am fit for work! I said ok so who will give me a job when the longest I can stay upright without feeling ill is 2 hours, these assesments are a joke, Hope it turns out better for you, although I will be appealing of course x
