Hi, i see a Dr or Mr Makin, hes a pain specialist based at Hope, also known as Salford Royal i think, in Salford, he is very good but the waiting list is massive, but if he does Private it will be quicker, phone the hospital and ask for his secretary.
I have only been with him a couple of months but already ive seen a clinical psychologist, and a sleep clinic, also changed my pills a little and he is very thorough.
.I feel quite positive he recognises my problems and is working with me to alleviate my symptoms. Unfortunately i have just received a letter cancelling my appointment and putting it back by 3 months ;-( so not happy about that, but if you can afford private that wont be the case.
Good luck, amanda x
Thanks for the info, i'll look into it, to be honest I cant afford it, my mum has offered to pay for it because I asked my doctor to refer me to a pain clinic or someone that knows more about the condition but he told me there are no pain clinics he can refer me to or any specialists on fibro, I know hes lying!!
The only treatment i've been offered since diagnosis is pain killers which don't work anymore.

Maybe change your doctor or just insist that you need a specialist pain doctor, he obviously doesnt recognise how your feeling! its so frustrating isnt it, wish you all the best, amanda x
Try getting a referral to Professor Jones Rheumatologist at Salford Royal he specialises in Fybromyalgia research
Another option is referral to Salford pain clinic Dr Richard Makin he is very good
If going private research the Dr first but try NHS tell your Dr you want referring if he/she refuses put in a complaint. You have a right to choose which hospital it's called choose and book hope this helps
