Can't see any reference to weight gain - but the link above is the patient info for amitryptaline.

I find if I can't get out I put weight on - and some of my other meds have had this effect too. I was eating the same things, but was eating late and not being able to wear the calories off. But everyone is different sweetheart x

I used to be on Gabapentin for the fibro pain, and although it didn't suit me, from reading on here it helps a lot of others. Also Tramadol.

Might be worth having a chat with your GP to see if you can get a referral to your local pain clinic....

Hope this has helped! Gentle hugs xx

Hi, sarah,

I have put so much weight on due to gabapentin, that is for nerve pain. I have to say though my pain was that bad that i would rather be this big at the minute rather than go through all that pain again.

I am on amitriplyn, and have been on that before gabapentin and that didnt put weight on me, like misskittycat says though we are all different.

Hope you find something to help you.

I put on a lot of weight and like everyone else just one more thing to add to the depression. I joined Slimming world a year ago and have lost 5stone! It hasn't been easy and I've been so careful in what I eat.It doesn't make the pain go away but mobility is easier. In a weird way it has hepled with the sleeping...still wake with pain but I can shift position more easily...less of the beached whale effect.

Hope things get better for you.

By the way, I'm on amitriplyn.

Hi all, i also put on a lot of weight, i am a wheelchair user to so no exercise at all, i am on tramadol, but i also have copd and i'm also on steriods, i got to the point where i could not turn over in bed i had to wake my partner to turn me over, but i joint slimmers world and have also lost over 6and a half stones, in just over a year, i can now turn over in bed by myself and the help of my bed bar,but although i am still in pain24/7 looseing the weight has helped me so much, i would recomend slimmers world i think its fantastic you get to eat loads and never feel hungry :-) Well done bumble i totally agree with you, love and gentle hugs to you all xx :-)

I have put on about two stone, i was very slim before. I don't mind it too much as it's just a size bigger. As long as i can get into my jeans and boots i'm quite happy. I take 75mgs Amitriptyline and it has definitely affected my weight. I didn't notice the meds i was on before raising my weight. Also it's my inactive life compared to before, i potter around the house but that's about it these days. I also eat less than half of what i used to, still the weight gain. I keep telling myself one day i will swim again and go for long walks with our dogs, that inspires me.

Hi Sarah i have had fibro for about 8 years ,i was always fairly fit now my weight goes up and down ... i have been on so many diff meds the pain clinic have put me on tapentadol which a fairly new drug ,as with fibro we have bad days and really bad ones , i think it helps a bit and i normally get injections in my back every 6 months which sometimes dont work and really painful to get...... but i think the weight gain is part of fibro and it does get us down, i have tried so many times and still trying to lose weight , it seems im fighting a losing battle !! sorry havent been much help (((( gentle hugs))))

Hi you are not going to like me but i have got to be honest i am on 8 coc odamol and 3 x amitriptiline a night and 20 mg pain patch plus few other tablets i am only 7 to 7 half stone and i have actually lost a stone so i think we are all different my natural weight is only 8 stone 4 lb anyway but i just lost it wether it is stress of condition and general life i dont know but everyone reacts differently to meds so it could be them hope you get to bottom of it and to be honest get your pain under contol and then you can try and work on losing the extra weight you have gained but do it the sensible way with the help of your Gp love to you Diddle x

Thanks jazher, bumble and sarah, i think you get to the point where i did,and just say enough is enough, i put on so much weight i couldent even wipe my own backside, i couldent bear it anymore, and i dident want to be laid up in bed for the rest of my life, i was so very depressed with it all, when i realized i was the only person who could change my life for the better and i spoke to my doctor, he said he could offer me an opperation for bypass, there was no way i was going to do that, my daughter sugested slimmers world and she would come with me, and thats what we done, and i'm still there,i feel so much happier in myself,my breathing to although i suffer with asthma and copd, its no where as bad as it was, there are loads more things and all for the better, i dident think i had any willpower left, but i did. Before i got ill i was a size 12 small 14 which i was very happy with and i went to the gym 4/5 times a week doing an hour and 45mins non stop work out each time, and i worked as a nursery nurse i never sat down,i loved my old life, but i have acepted my life as it is now with all my illness'es and try to make the best of it i can and to be as happy as i can too :) thanks ladies big hugs to you all xxxx :)
