Hi lally, nice to learn something about you.

You've had a rough time too, a lot of us seem to have on here. I got married at 18 too and had 2 sons. You did well having 5 after being told you wouldn't have any at all.

I'm a childminder too. I want to give up work but I'm not as bad as a lot of you here. I ache and hurt but for the time being I can carry on. I'm 60 this year and was hoping to retire but it aint going to happen. :(

I filled in the DLA form but decided against sending it off and reading what people have experienced here, I don't think there's much point.

Hope your wheelchair arrives soon and helps you a lot.

hi Lally don@t gve up on DLA t took me three years and now i get highest rates after constant refusal. ask your local council for name of your local disability support groups who will help and even fill in the forms for you.

our local dial group closed through lack of funds but council gave me another called YEW TREE RESOURCE CENTRE. TELE 01708 763531. They may be able to tell you if there is one in your area. they helped me do appeal too and i was not asked to attend a medcal. citizen advice can help locate and make appontment at these disability centers.

hope this is of help. it so tough we need support.

glad you found this site. i am really enjoying talking to others too.

xx

Hi you really have it rough over the years bless you at least you have got a good social worker and hopefully with her input you will get all the help you need both physically mentally and financially, well the wheelchair will help you and if some days you can manage then try without it with fibro you have to do what you can each day dont you some days i can walk into town another day i can jus about go across the room thats how this thing is so dont look at the wheelchair as the end of your independance but an aid to you for the days that are bad you take care love and soft hugs Diddle xx

Hi Christine,

I just don't know what to do for the best cos I really don't think I'd get it. I'm in pain but nowhere near some of you ladies (and gentlemen ) on here. I can still work but it's very hard and very tiring.

I think I might carry on working for the time being and rather than spend my money - I make cards and spend quite a bit on papers/card etc which I really don't need - put it away and hang on to it. Save it for 'a rainy day'. I'm lucky in that I don't have a mortgage anymore but I honestly haven't sat down and worked out how or if I'd manage financially.

My GP has semi retired and only works Mondays and Tuesdays now, I work those days too and the CAB opens for about 4 hours one morning a week so I'll just hang on for a while longer and see how I get on. I did speak to the new GP - who looked about 14 - and he said even if they wrote a letter for me, he doubted I'd get it. x

thanks guys for your comment, Ihad a call from my social worker yesterday shes going to get the finance team on the case for dla,as for the wheelchair its now a high priority as I now dont get any good days, any walking lwaves me screaming with pain
