Hello all.Yesterday i attended my hearing for pip.I was originally given just standard daily and no mobility.I suffer with fibromyalgia ,degenerative disc disease ,mental health and other conditions.I have been prescribed a walikng stick and cannot walk even 1 metre without being in pain.I need to take breaks in my walking I cant even reach 10-15 metres and yesterday they saw me struggling.I got very overwhelmed in the hearing and couldnt answer correctly in planning and following a journey. At the end i was only awarded 8 points for standard mobility and the descriptor was can walk 20 metres but no more than 50.Im just confused and absolutely shocked on how they come to their conclusions.Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm so sorry to hear this, I have learnt an awful lot about PIP over the last 3 months and I know its not helpful, but you're not alone. My 10 year award was removed 2 years ago as I had a very small change in circumstances and I loss everything just 5 years in. I should have only lost 2 points but lost about 20 points. I advise anyone who is applying for PIP to do it through citizens advice and have an advocate. Or someone who knows how the system works. It only takes one sentence to loose it.

Hi most of us don't think it a good idea challenge them, if you have an award stick with it. It took me 7yrs to get anything. If you are walking around they think you are putting it on that you can't Walk further, even when I when in my wheelchair I got refused and had to go to tribunal but was awarded then. sorry they are not helpful or Sympathetic. Take care 🙂

I am afraid this is pretty much the standard it seems, I was awarded 10 points in mobility section after a redetermination- I had put on my application that most days was a struggle to walk from my front door to my car 3 metres away and they still put the 20-50 metres!!. The 10 points does give me entitlement to a blue badge which will be great when I get it, but it is very hard to get the other 2 points required for advanced mobility. I considered taking to tribunal but just don’t have the energy for it so accepted what I have.
