Going through a bad symptom time

Hi everyone. I've been going through a really bad symptom time recently, really bad pain. I'm waiting for an appointment and I'm going to see if I can change medication. I'm also starting a new full time job soon and I'm worried how I'm going to manage it. At the moment I'm just counting down until my appointment. Does anyone have any advice for how to be positive and not worry and how to make things easier?

Thank you

Hi EP, really wish I had loads of great advice to offer you but I can only add my own little nuggets! It's 3.30am and as usual it seems everyone is sound asleep except me & probably loads of us!

For me, staying in the moment works best. If I start to look too far in front I can feel that horrible panicky worrying feeling so I quickly shut it down and come right back to getting through the day at work, then getting to my next day off and so on ....

And if it ends up you try your new job and you can't manage, the world won't end. You can always adjust your working hours, reduce your days etc. to suit you better. Reasonable adjustments for fibromyalgia come under the equality act.

There's an old Scottish saying

Whits Fur Ye'll No Go By Ye (What's for you, won't go by you) - So there's no point stressing about it, if it's going to happen anyway, why waste time and energy worrying about it now?

That's my little nuggets anyway, best of luck with your new job! Hope it goes well x 🤞

I think your being very positive in seeking the right help in moving forward with your pain, sometimes it’s trial and error finding something that suits us as an individual, it’s normal too worry but if you can find ways too switch off until your appointment gets here that would be helpful, hope all goes well with the new job x

Hi,I would like to share with you this: my mission to better health.

Eat less, eat fresh, for good health

Sit less, move more, for better strength

Sleep less, sleep well, for optimum rest

Read more, see more, to gain knowledge

Drink water, cut caffeine, for better hydration

Waste less, repair more, to reduce pollution

Nag less, do more, for better harmony

Take less, give more, to promote positivity

Be minimalist, buy less, to gain more space

Be aware, keep calm, for better mental clarity

Meditate, practice mindfulness, to keep in touch with my inner self

Listen to my heart, it's the gateway to energy of the universe

Where life begins, where positive and negative are equal

The universe is in perpetual balance

My mission is to strive for balance and for good health

And hope for peace on earth.

I now managed my pain through soft yoga and deep breathing. I can't rely on the professionals as my body is mine, others can't understand exactly how I feel. So I try to be positive and take responsibility to do my best to keep well and healthy.

All the best,
