PIP application any advice

I have reduced my hours at work due to my Fibromyalgia. A friend suggested I should apply for PIP but I am still working. Has anyone successfully managed to claim PIP and still work ?

hi, you should claim universal credit, they calculate your income, and will top up your income.

Good luck.

Yes I work and applied for PIP. It’s not means tested so your wage or savings etc aren’t looked into x

Hi nellie_deany,

You will get a lot of advice and support from your fellow Fibro family warriors,

Never wait to post, I say this because if your uncertain asking a daft question or feel silly then you need to look else where!!😉😉

There are no such questions which can't be answered (often a LOT) And far from silly,😵‍💫😵‍💫

(I use a lot of irony in my humour, never be offended 🤪🤪🤪)

You most certainly can claim for PIP, It is not means tested but is awarded by how much this💩💩💩💩 illness affects your way of life, ie if you can (for instance) walk easily with or without assistance and how far? if you find a daily chore is much affected,

Do you need help with certain and simple tasks,

If you are unsure you could always fill in a form on line and it will give you a rough idea if you can have any chance of claiming and receiving PIP and and any other benefits to help you live a little better,

What ever happens try to stay calm and composed and give them all the information truthfully about how often you feel the wrath of Fibro,

It can be a little intense and you can help with the forms from your local CAB office or a carers centre,

They will give you the best advice,

I'm sorry for the long post, I lack the ability to give short answers 😄

take care Debs

yes, I have managed to claim pip for my mum though at first she was refused and we had to go through the appeal process then even to tribunal as she was struggling and her company even made adaptations at her work place. It is possible to get pip for Fibro though when applying they are more interested in what you can and can’t do and have several sections. You may also be entitled to universal credit which will top up your wages and help more if struggling. If in the application process this and you can’t answer the questions I always add a extra sheet explaining my struggles as it’s easier than answering the questions sometimes

Hi,

Yes, you can work and claim pip. Pip assessment looks at how your condition affects your day to day life.

I claimed it and this site was brilliant.

benefitsandwork.co.uk/

There is lots of free info and it's SO worth paying their small membership fee to get the detailed stuff. They explain every question so you can include every necessary piece of info needed to claim your full entitlement.

There are so many benefits that go unclaimed. Everyone should have access to what they are entitled to but some, like pip are extremely difficult to navigate and many people get rejected first time. This website, helps with applications, assessments and appeals.

When I got rejected, I appealed and it got to a couple of days before my hearing, when I got a phone call. They had given in and accepted my claim.

So do apply and don't give up. It's worth it in the end.

Best wishes,

Mgt

Go ahead and do a claim for pip as it's not means tested and make sure you get help and advice from someone who knows how to fill the forms in ( Citizens Advice eg.) so that fingers crossed you are successful. Good luck with everything 👍

Pip is not means tested so you can get it while working also if you where getting working tax or UC once you have been susseful for pip it will increase the amount of UC or working class as well pip is a gateway benefit so if awarded it will allow you to claim help for other benefits as well

Yes, you can get PIP and carry on working but they will take into account what you do and whether it is consistent with your claimed disabilities. Take a look at my previous post for guides that will help you present your claim to best effect healthunlocked.com/fibromya...
