Hi, I had my pip renewal telephone conversation last month. It lasted for an hour and half! Very stressful. 2 weeks later £1,600 dropped into my account before letter. I was already on higher mobility and standard living but they put me on higher living and back dated it from renewal date. So you will get a letter with a date for pip renewal. Try not to worry to much. Easier said than done I know. My advice is get your last pip application out and see what you wrote. Start making notes for each one so you are prepared for there questions. Good luck x
If it's a renewal be prepared for a long wait for your review. My relative filled out his form and sent it back in April last year, his PIP runs out this month. He has just had a letter to say there is an extension for a year whilst they get around to looking at his paperwork. The DWP are prioritising new claims over renewals which is rightly so. It also depends on where you live as to how long you are likely to wait. It helps to get advice completing the form as it is often the way things are worded which makes all the difference. Hope it's not too stressful for you.
Hi thanks for your reply I had no idea it might take so long. I'm due to get my state pension in October this year and I read somewhere that if its not in place by the time you get your pension you won't get it. I will look into his a bit more. Thank you. I might have replied twice by mistake 😕
I think you will find that if you have PIP in place it will continue, subject to meeting the criteria. It's only new claims that are not permitted after retirement age. After retirement I think you can only claim attendance allowance. I am sure Ajay will be along to confirm my thoughts or put me right🙂 It does get very confusing doesn't it.
The rules for PIP after State Pension Age are as follows:
"PIP at State Pension Age:
If you are already at State Pension age, you cannot start a claim for Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
If you have an existing PIP award, this will continue. You do not have to do anything.
If you are reassessed after State Pension age, your mobility component cannot increase, but the daily living amount can. You must continue to meet the criteria for PIP."
