For the last couple of weeks we worked with Alex Singleton to get an article together that would highlight some of the suffering that people with fibro are experiencing. The focus from Alex and the paper was on one meds are being taken away from some people and causing negative impacts on quality of life. It also allowed for some awareness raising as well.

An interesting article; very pleased that the media is prepared to publish something about our agonising pain. The confusion continues for me since I feel we have been left our own! As one of the sufferers said in the article: the antidepressant may take away the depression element but not the pain

As I’m writing I’m struggling with the widespread pain as if I have been run over by 100 buses and yet we are still being bossed around by the medical profession 😭😭😭🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🥲🥲🥲

Interesting read, Des. I was on Gabapentin but it did nothing for me. I take Co-codamol but only when the pain is really bad, because I got addicted to it and had to wean myself off it. I also take Amitriptyline 50mg at night, which I believe is quite a low dose. Hopefully they won't stop the Co-codamol as I also have Osteoarthritis. I feel for all those who have had their painkillers taken off them. 😢

Excellent work Des and article. I 100% echo what Painny said! The only support I get for my fibro is this forum of which I'm most grateful for and in turn try I try and support others on here where I can even if it's just a kind word. All the best fibro warrior. Thanks for all you do 🙏

My husband and I had a good laugh at this paragraph... "spokesman for NICE said: ‘Fibromyalgia guidelines emphasise the importance of shared decision making and fostering a collaborative, supportive relationship between patients and healthcare professionals"

I normally receive disdain from health care professionals, and if I'm lucky collaborative disdain...

Hi

Can I ask what you mean by partner? It’s underneath your name.

It is a designation health unlocked who run the site have given me due to being a trustee of the charity and being involved.

Very pleased to see this piece. Great work all around. Between my Fibro, Autoimmune, and Osteoarthritis I managed to hold on to most of my painkillers although it took a surgery consultation with the chief partner to get the pharmacist to back off!
