Medication Question

Morning, hope you are all as pain free as possible today. I have a question in respect of medication I am still trying to find the best solution for me. I tried amitriptyline but it just didn't work, it didn't touch the pain and left me even more exhausted. Recently I have been on Pregablin up to 175mg but have noticed I have become very swollen, ankles, feet and stomach also I struggle at time to pee? Has anyone else experienced this. I know another option is Duloxentine can anyone tell me how they find this. The problem I have is I have a stressful job and at the moment I need to continue working so I need some help to cope with the pain. I have tried not taking anything and I can barely move I hurt so much. Any shared thoughts would greatly help as my doctor isn't as helpful as I would like plus I never speak to the same person twice.

I am sorry you are struggling with the pain so much. I take Amitriptyline at night and although it doesn’t completely deaden the pain, it does help. Just recently my GP also prescribed Duloxetine, so I take a low dose of that at night as well. It has certainly made a difference.

For the first couple of weeks taking it, I got bad headaches which are a side effect, but they have eased now.

It is certainly worth trying.

Fortunately I have a very good GP who perseveres with me until he finds something that is helpful and which I can tolerate.

Good luck! ❤️

Hello, it’s very hard too see the same doctor these days which is a shame as they do not get too know you personally like it used too be, it’s the same at our surgery , very hard on you working and being in a lot of pain and seems trial and error until we find something that at least dulls the pain on daily basis. I take duloxtene and just for me personally I have got on okay with it the last few years, I do read here doctors try this for fibro patients , I hope this option does help you , let us know how you get on .

Hello Marieg,

I am sorry to hear you are in pain. I too have fibromyalgia and am currently taking duloxitine 120 mg per day which is the highest dose apparently. It helps alongside naproxen when I do not have a flair up. Unfortunately, I currently have a flair up and also use morphine patches to help control the pain. I am also due t have my second lidocaine infusion in the pain management clinic in a week's time, I recommend you look into this as it was a help if only for the time it lasted which was approx two months.

I do hope you find the right medication to help you.

Best Wishes xx
