Hi. Yes I was on pregabalin. I put on 2 stone and am now pre-diabetic. I got my gp to take me off it and I'm now on dulexotine which works for me although it makes me extremely tired. I don't think everyone has the same experience with pregabalin but I just could not stop eating. Tramadol made me itch all over. I couldn't sleep with the itching. I think it's all trial and error. There is also amitrptaline which I never tried. This is, however, just my experience of pregablin. Good luck. Best wishes Golly

I've been on both gabapentin and pregabalin. They stopped working for me, so am now on Duloxatine.

Hi, I'm on gabapentin also I started on that dose, it is now 300mg, 3 times a day, so in time they will probably increase it and you may find it helps a lot more, x

I couldn't tolerate amitriptyline and now working my way up on Duloxetine (currently 40mg a day). Getting dry mouth, nausea and sweating! Not tried gabapentin or Pregalin yet! Best of luck, these drugs are a right lottery! 😩

I've been on Amitriptyline for over 10 years and I've been on Gabapentin and Pregablin in the past. Amitriptyline doesn't help my pain but helps me sleep, my sleep is appalling anyway so not sure I'd be alive without it.My experiences on Gabapentin and Pregablin are similar to golly123, Pregablin made me want to eat my own hand, both made me put on weight. I went from anorexic to a bit chubby, I found it very hard to deal with. Pregablin was worse for weight gain than Gabapentin though, with gaba it was more subtle and took longer whereas Pregablin was crazy. Gabapentin helped my pain more than Pregablin did but either way I found no meds at all were just as could once you are weaned off them. Withdrawal can be unpleasant, so don't come off them, feel worse and assume that's bc they were working, you need to get past withdrawal before you can really compare either of them to another med or no meds.

Finally a diagnosis. Good and bad as finding the magic 'something that works' is a virtual impossible task. I have been on Gabapentin (2 years plus), Pregabalin and duloxetine and none of them did a thing. Sorry to sound negative but it really is a long haul to find something. Also the weight gain on Gabapentin increased my pain. I wish to luck and send love.

Hi I find amitriptyline works for me, helps with my restless legs, which I get mostly at night, and helps me sleep to.

Hi, have you been on it long because it takes time to work. A few weeks. Also that’s a very low dose so you can increase if it’s not helping. I take 600mg a day and that’s still quite a low dose I believe.

Hope that helps.

I tried pregabalin but it didnt work for me. I take Amitriptyline and Codeine, a combination which does help me. If you are struggling then go back to the GP. I was given several different meds over several months, which I admit was stressful, to try and find something which did work. I know its not easy, but do persevere.

I was on 1200mg pregablin and put 2 stone on in a few months. I'm on Duloxetine the last 2 yrs and it's much better for me and I'm back w my normal weight

Hi I've been on Gabapentin, Amitriptaline, and latterly on 60 mg Duloxetine. The Duloxetine worked for so long but then the pain came back so with the side effects of Duloxetine I'm now off them. Yes I'm in pain but doing what I can when I can. I've sort of accepted this is me for the rest of my life. I turn 66 this month so I'm officially a pensioner, as well as the fibromyalgia I have diabetes, gout, high blood pressure and bad IBS so with the meds I'm on for these and the side effects I get I took the decision not to have anymore medication, but I understand Meds will work for some and I'm pleased for them. Hope you find some relief from this awful condition.

Hi

I now take 900g a day - it just takes the edge off the pain but that’s it! I’ve also gained weight on it but I think the taking the edge off is worth it!

I also take amitryptilene for restless legs alongside codeine - all of which as I stated above just take the edge off.

Hi, I've got friends who it helps. And some it does not. Maybe just give it time. I'm on duloxtine and that helps me.

Hi, has anyone tried Warrier balm for Fibro?

Hi 300mg gabapentin is the starting dose.. you need to go back or ring GP to ask to try higher dose and see how it effects you. It needs to be taken 3 x daily which isn't great when you have irregular sleeping habits as we do.. I find Pregabalin twice daily more suitable , less side effects . I also take Tramadol with paracetamol & ive not found that ive gained weight. I was a snr pharmacy technician before forced to leave due to fibromyalgia so I have some insite into meds..

Hello thank you for that , I am a bit reluctant to continue gabapentin as I have noticed some hair loss , I wonder does pregablin cause this as well . My pain isn’t being managed very well at all . I take codeine and oramorph prn . I have heard that the nice guidance is that opioids don’t really help . However I get better relief from the oramorph, than anything, and really think a butec patch would help me . It’s all individual anyway . I am sorry to hear that you had to give up work , are you completely stopped . Take care x
