Requiring Help from the Ladies 😊

Hello Ladies, I've come to ask for some help.

I have Fibromyalgia and bone spurs in my hips, and I am currently suffering great pain from the side seams of my underwear. Which as I write it out, sounds absolutely ridiculous πŸ™„. I gave up completely on wearing bra's about 5 years ago due to a similar issue, thankfully I'm an average size and can get away with just wearing nipple pasties currently.

Getting away with not wearing panties is a different matter though, as I am still at an age where I am having periods and I am unable to use tampons. I'm hoping someone will have a recommendation for seamless underwear, that also doesn't ride up my bottom 😳 I'm at my wit's end so any recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

it’s not ridiculous at all hun, there are loads on Amazon, they do seem less knickers and ladies boxers I gave up wearing knickers yonks ago and just wear a G string, once a month the seamless knicks have to be pulled out, and I hate them with vengeance lol. I hope you find something suitable. Good luck.

Yes I was going to say there are masses of seamless knickers on Amazon some at very reasonable prices. I am the same as you and seams and tags really feel quite painful. I also had to give up on wearing a bra it just caused too much pain. Good luck with picking.x

I think it was M&S I got some seamless ones before

Thank you all for your replies. It is honestly nice to know that I'm not alone in this bizarre irritation 😊 I will have a look on both Amazon and Marks and Spencers.

Have a look in your local Asda too or you can order online, they've got a few different styles all seamless 😊

sloggi honey best pants cotton with a little bit of stretch. I’m in agony with a bra but only wear it when going out! No one wants to see 36 GG swinging free. πŸ™ˆGood luck.

Thank you for your reply! I'll look into Sloggi too. I'm sorry you have to wear a bra causing you such pain 😞 it bloody sucks. I tried every type of bra I could find before giving up. The only time I will wear one is if I have to go into a church (Christenings, Funerals, etc) πŸ˜‚ I'm not even religious but I feel so wrong letting the girls be free.

πŸ˜‚good job we can still laugh. Most days are really shitty but summer is coming and that always helps. Hope you find some knickers that suit. X

just a word of warning that I have had sloggies and they are the most uncomfortable and irritating pants ever. I found them to cling to all the wrong bits (like my clitoris) and rub annoyingly to the point I had to go and take them off mid work day. But I have been told they think I am also ADD and me and my four kids are all the same with clothing that itches. So I would go with the 100% cotton, cheap pack pants that you get in asda to start. Sloggies are also very expensive x

That sounds utterly horrendous 😳 I will absolutely not be giving those a go! Thank you for the excellent warning πŸ˜‚ x

Oh that's smart πŸ€“ I'll give that a go with my pyjama bottoms, they irritate the life out of me at night. Thank you!

hi, I find just buying cheap cotton pants from asda are the least. They say shorts but they aren’t, and they are just cotton, or John Lewis cotton pants….. these are the best and what I used to wear running marathons and I can swear by them as I also get irritated by labels and seams. I have stopped wearing bra’s too and I am just wearing crop tops even though there is no support at all. Comfort all the way. Xxx

gemimafibro profile image
gemimafibro

Thank you for your reply! I had tried the Asda cotton ones, but unfortunately even the smallest size tended be a bit too big for me and they'd fall down which irritated me just as much as seams and labels πŸ˜‚

Yeeees! I'm team free boob all the way πŸŽ‰. I did feel a bit uncomfortable around others to begin with but I've just embraced it now. I refuse to be in pain just because of a social standard. Can you imagine if we'd been born into a time period where corsets were the norm 😳 Ooft. I hate to even imagine it! Xxx

I buy ladies shorts from Tesco. They are very stretchy and soft. I don't have any problems with them going up my bum either! You can buy them in a pack of two for Β£6. Good luck.

Thank you! I will give those a go! I bought some from Amazon a few days ago at the recommendation of a few others and whilst they have been incredibly comfortable seam wise, they do keep disappearing where the sun doesn't shine πŸ˜‚ . Thank you for the recommendation ❀️

I hope you find them as comfortable as I do. Don't get them mixed up with the 'shaping' pants, and the ones I buy are the shape of shorts. I think they have them in brief shape too but I expect they'd probably disappear too. 😳 They are the most comfortable pants I've ever had. Let me know how you get on. Good luck 🀞

Hiya gemima,

Ikr knickers n bras can be a pain. I’m your fairy godmother lol! Try Modibodi not only can u get a seamless pair of knickers, they are period pants too! No more leaks or coping with those twisted period pads that can be so frustrating. They do cost but if u consider the cost of your pads u will realise they are worth it. Gentle hugs πŸ˜ŠπŸ€—

gemimafibro profile image
gemimafibroβ€’ in reply toSlothMode

I was looking into these! I have been using washable pads for a few years, firstly because I was getting incredibly sore skin from the regular ones and secondly I was trying to go completely plastic free in my everyday life. They have been a god send up until this point, no sore skin at all, but as you mentioned, the twisting is ridiculous with pads and as I was trying different underwear out none of them could hold them in place. I'll give this brand a go when I invest in some. I'm appreciative of your recommendation, thank you ❀️

I hear you .... Concerning underwear. I found myself reverting to buying sizes bigger than I would normally. When that didn't work. I'm finding myself snipping cuts around the edge of the bra to give it more ' give' . { I understand now .. when I was nursing on the wards . I was asked frequently by ladies to. ' snip around their bra because it was so painful ). And they always begged me not to tell their relatives because they would understand). .. sounds sad but .. I understand now and have done for years .

gemimafibro profile image
gemimafibroβ€’ in reply todamag

Aw that is so sad 😩 it's horrible to not be understood, especially when it comes to pain. I went through the exact same process as you, larger sizes, snipping waist bands and bra edges. I've given up entirely on bras, it's just too painful, but I'm still hunting for the underwear solution. I continue to snip the waistbands of leggings, pyjama bottoms etc. Buying bigger just gives a whole new issue of them falling down, which is annoying in itself.

It's crazy when something you used to not understand at all starts to make sense to you isn't it. It's a proper "wow, I get it now" moment.

Thank you for your response 😊

Sloggi do a seamless knicker or thong much more comfortable. Bras I find troublesome too and nipple pads have been my go to for the past 5years too.

I wish you good luck you are so young , I hope you can manage your pain enabling you to live well. I’m double your age on Wednesday pain is 24/7 but I try to push through best I can . I meet so many people now that I only have to mention what I have and find out so many know others or even themselves that have fibromyalgia it’s dibilitating Take care

Thank you so much for your response. Happy Birthday for Wednesday 🎊 I hope you have a day with as little pain as possible and most importantly filled with happiness. Keep going. You're doing the best you can and that is enough ❀️

I'm currently trying to build myself a new "normal". I sadly had to give up my job a year before COVID began, a job I loved and was good at. I'm scared I'll never get to work again but I'm trying to be optimistic (I'm a chronic pessimist πŸ˜‚) and think "well if I can't work again then I'll just have to fill my days with things I can manage". It's difficult to cope mentally some days, when my body won't allow me to do as my brain wishes. But, we must keep plodding on.

I agree that it's, thankfully, become more known. Sometimes it's hard to explain and frustrating when someone doesn't know. I worked with a lady for years who had Fibro (she was 60 when she was diagnosed) whilst I was getting all the same symptoms, so I had an inkling that Fibro was what I had before I had the diagnosis this year. Having someone to talk to, who I knew how I felt was incredibly helpful and I'm still very grateful for her.

Thank you again ❀️
