Can anyone please tell me if they have had the symptoms l am currently experiencing?
I've posted on here before with regards to digestive issues and costochondritis. I have been in constant stomach pain, back and underarm pain now for around 5 weeks. Bowel changes and weight loss...16lbs. (lost weight because scared of pain after eating)
I have paid and seen a gastroenterologist after waiting 10days and l am having a private CT scan on Friday. I have seen a doctor every week for the last month as the pain moves around and sometimes stays in my lower right side where l feel it could be appendix. I even called an ambulance on Monday it was so bad..all the medical people say is wait to see what the CT scan shows. But it's the the time it takes! I have been told not to take strong pain killers til the scan.
The pain today is in my left chest/ underarm and shoulder. It actually feels like trapped wind but tried lots of remedies with no luck. I get so confused as to what is causing what and to be honest it can be quite frightening.
I know l am being tested for pancreatic problems and IBD just don't know how I'm going to cope another week. 😟

How awful for you to be in so much pain and anxiety. My son went through a terrible time on off for a year with gastro problems....he was in so much pain, lost loads of weight, couldn't eat, sleep etc. I would often ring 111 or an ambulance as I was so scared. He had ultrasound and ct scans and a gastroscopy....only mild gastritis was found. He's been fine for 5 months (touch wood) and now we look back we believe that stress had a huge part in his sickness. I really hope you get answers soon x
I am aware that my anxiety with all this carry on is exacerbating everything, but l think it happens to people in chronic pain and all the time it takes to find answers.
Hopefully all will calm down once l know what I'm dealing with.
Yes you're quite right....it's totally natural to feel anxiety when we have chronic health issues and those long waits for test results etc are a nightmare just add to it. If we got sorted quicker we wouldn't be in this perpetual state of fear and we'd probably have better health outcomes too.
How are you feeling tonight? Hope you've managed to eat a little xx
I'm a tad calmer thanks. I have drank my first of three iodine contrast drinks in preparation for the scan. Had no adverse effects as yet. Still not feeling great but did have some soup.
Hi there. I am not a doctor but I would incline for IBD, or IBS. Been reading that the symptoms can be relived through diet, as alcaline as possible. Meat and dairy are a big no no. Most inflammatory illness are caused by diet and stress. I hope your ct scan goes well and hopefully they find a solution. Good luck!
I have had IBS for a long time but like you say it looks like it could be IBD. I have Malabsorption so just trying to find out why. I don't eat meat but the dairy may be partly responsible. Once l know what im am dealing with l shall adjust my diet.
Fingers crossed they find something that can be sorted.
Good luck! I joined this forum because my (ex) boyfriend has fibro and I was trying to understand the illness better. Sadly we broke up, but I am still following the forum sometimes. I am sorry people go through this terrible illness, my heart goes for all of you.
Just want to wish you well for your scan. Hope they find something easily treated to make you more comfortable.
I really think all the waiting lists in this country are contributing to I’ll health. Other countries with state health services don’t have these waiting lists.
I agree about the waiting lists. The poor NHS is so stretched these days. That's why l thought it would speed things up to pay. (im not insured) but even that feels like it's taking an age! And that is because of of people doing the same thing. And there is a serious shortage of diagnostic staff, radiologists etc.....
How are you doing,?
I’m not too bad, thanks. You’re right about the number of people paying because of the NHS waiting times. GP has referred me back to Rheumatology, can’t see the point really but as there’s an 8 month wait I’ve got time to think about it. Spoke to a friend in France the other day, her two week wait to see a consultant is considered bad !
I suffered as you are three years ago. I had not had any real digestive problems until then. I was in the hospital because I had a very high temp and needed iv antibiotics; it was a holy nightmare. It turned out to be appendicitis. All the heavy duty antibiotics caused c-diff and I was so ill I needed 2 fecal transplants to further add to the drama I had sepsis from the ordeal. Be aggressive. Tell and I mean tell your MDs time has come to make a decision, an appendix which is swollen is painful and can give you pain in other areas of your belly; it’s called referred pain. It took 7 wks in the hospital before I hit the streets. I am still working on recovery. Please be assertive, when I threatened being transferred to another hospital I had the surgery. I am sending you Light and Love. Please keep us updated.
