Hi I currently get Standadrd rate care of pip which is due to be reviewed Dec 23. It take 12mths to fight to get that .
I'm debating rocking the boat as my condition has deteriorated immensely since my original claim.
I researched what you need to inform them about and changes to your condition is one of them.
My issue is when I said to the benefits adviser about doing this, she said to wait until my review date . This is due to people being transitioned over to the new Adult Disability Payment instead of PIP. She said if I was to do something now I would cause a supersession and my pip claim would be closed and I would have to apply directly as a new claimant for the new benefit, whereas atm I will transition over as it is and then do a review when it's due for the changes in condition.
Has anyone got any info about this at all?
I'm really confused now as I thought that maybe now entitled to higher rate at least in care.
I can only seem to find general info about the new benefit.
Thanks in advance.

I think it's always worth taking advice as you have done, & be guided by someone who knows your circumstances. ADP is similar to PIP with the activities/descriptors that are looked at, which, if you haven't already seen it, you can see the combined application form here: socialsecurity.gov.scot/ass...
With PIP, you don't need to report a change in your condition unless you feel, after looking at the descriptors, that you may gain sufficient points to change your current award to a higher one. The decision making guide for ADP & a 'change of circumstances: change in mobility or care needs' can be seen here: socialsecurity.gov.scot/ass...
Hi I would like to say please wait until your transition over to ADP, my claim transition was December 2022 and as I would've been due pip review I got a review with social security Scotland just a week past and I must say OMG the difference I will never need to be terrified of any review with SSS at anytime, they are so helpful and understanding. So if I were you I'd hang tight and wait for your transition. Hope this helps.
I am in exactly the same place as yourself. I was also put off by citizen advice to get the enhanced rate as she said it will start a whole new claim. Mine doesn’t expire till Oct ‘24 so have a year and a half to wait.
I was advised that it was better to try them when it is due for renewal even though my condition has really worsened and have other health issues now to.
It's so hard, esp as the chance could be enhanced rate but having to restart just sucks esp as had a fight to get what I get anyway. I have enough stress as it is without adding to it as well so I think I'll just wait.
Seems unfair to lose out on it but I haven't got the energy to fight right now. Better the devil you know.
Hello, I am new to this group and have just been reading my way through a whole host of older posts when I came across yours. I had an incredibly positive experience with Adult Disability Payments, just like somebody else here reported. Having applied for PIP and having found it a terrible experience I was dreading ADP, but it was like night and day. What is happening though is that they are doing things in stages and I was fortunate to live in one of the local authority areas that were part of an intial roll-out programme. Now it is being rolled out across Scotland and I suspect they need time and a way not only to deal with new claims like mine (I had given up on PIP because it was so distressing an experience) but also to transition people on PIP to ADP. But what I would suggest is that you could contact them and find out directly from them. Their ethos seems to be driven by helping people rather than rejecting them.
